Another project David Cerny - Two Peeing Guys (Sculpture)
Over Charles Bridge, the Franz Kafka museum immediately to the right (Cihelná 2b) harbours one of Cerny's most humorous creations. Affectionately titled "Piss". The idea is disarmingly simple. Two bronze sculptures pee into their oddly-shaped enclosure , actually it’s the shape of the Czech Republic.
While they are peeing, the two figures move realistically. An electric mechanism driven by a couple of microprocessors swivels the upper part of the body, while the penis goes up and down. The stream of water writes quotes from famous Prague residents.
It used to be that you could write what they peed but I guess the message couldn't be more controversial than the subject.

Ha! Ha! Piotr,
What a pair of statues!
I can imagine the attention that they caused when they were first on show!
Piss certainly describes the creation ... I think they must have had an awful lot to drink to be able to piss over the whole of the Czech Republic!!
It is a great photograph, taken from just the right angle so that the viewers have a good lead into the shot and the relationship between the two is connected.
You really amused me with this!!
My warm regards,

Widzę, że robisz fajną serię ciekawej i prowokującej sztuki, podoba mi się taka dużo bardziej niż dostojni, sztywni i zasłużeni na cokołach, a Ty zasłużyłeś na rzeźbę i 2 punkty :)))))

Your image reveals a intriguing sense of humor exhibited openly by the Czechs. In addition to the "potty humor", the actual statues are unique in being lines horizontally carved.
I wonder if Franz Kafka would have approved?
Thanks for sharing,

Ha, we also have a statue of a peeing guy in our capital, but much smaller.
The red facade is a beautiful background for these bronze sculptures.
Best regards, Paul

Never expect this in the name of art! Perhaps a quickie pissy job well accomplished and the pool of ......
Well caught, it's catchy sculptures nevertheless and a feat to the eye. Lovely framing with this layout portraying the shapes, tones and details superbly and the patina in particular is fabulous. Lovely shot, tfs

This is definitely different! You present this unusual work of art very nicely. I am curious about the idea behind these statues. Why are they peeing on their own country?! It can't be nice to stand in a pool of your own pee all day and night, but these "men" must do it. :-)

this sculpture would be prohibited in many places of the world, not only because the nudity itself. something very evident in the days we are living, where the liberty of expression is being menaced.
very curious fountain. I never had seen some like this before (only with little boys).

Good morning Piotr,
Strange, but I do not remember seeing this in Prague, maybe mounted after our Visit in 03/2009.
Not the best subject for art- details, but well managed to convey this picture.
