With our dear friend Malgo in France right now, and posting a few Bridge photos, that inspired me to post this one.
I'm sure you're all aware that this is the famous Charles Bridge in Prague. And yes, its been photographed probably millions of times. The challenge then, is to come up with a new or at least somewhat new point of view.
Thats where I found this location.
You can see precisely where it is by clicking on the "Map View"
I searched long and hard to find a location below the bridge, most importantly one that showed off the large arches. The yellow/orange lighting was simply a bonus! I didn't know that would happen.
We scoped out the composition much earlier in the daytime. Getting to this spot took a bit of time, but in the end you get to see Prague in a viewpoint that I don't think many others do. When you're down here, you can literally see hundreds and hundreds of people on the bridge, and they just keep on walking by - as if nobody can figure out how we got here! haha
The shot was taken in the evening at blue hour, and its HDR, a collection of 5 photos of varying exposures.
Hope you enjoy it.

You are right, this is a most unusual viewpoint on the Charles Bridge and one not very often seen. The floodlit bridge sweeping in from the right makes a superb long perspective looking towards this lovely ensemble of architecture. Ideally exposed with excellent colours and sharpness. The golden reflections over the river are a most definite plus.

Hi Craig. Brilliant creation, excellent exposure and light control, superb colours- especially the combination of cool blue and warm golden yellow. As for the reflections, they are enchanting. The depth of the image extends the pleasure of looking at this scene. Bravo! Regards. Klaudio.

fantastic POV and great composition. I do like your story on how you came about creating this composition. The map feature is something new to me, I must check out how to include, great stuff. Finally, this is how a good HDR should look, super job.

The perspective on this is really fantasic, pulling the eye into the scene and across the river to that beautiful architecture across the way. Of course, needless to say the colors are superb, blue and gold work so beautifully together, a very royal combination.

A superb blue hour shot from Prague with good sharpness and striking warm cold color contrasts between the golden illumination and the deep navy blue sky. A good high aperture setting for getting the starburst lights too. It took me a while to figure out aperture priority setting and manual over ride on my camera! The low shooting angle is excellent. Tfs!

Late blue hour and yellow toned illumination always make a charming combination. Especially reflections on the left look great. And this classic bridge is shot from good angle with strong perspective.

no matter how often seen-the Charles Bridge makes always huge impression on me(and I´m sure not only on me).
Superb presentation my friend!
Blue hour in combination with yellow lights illuminating the bridge and the buildings in the distance looks fantastic!
But for me(apart from the beauty of the bridge)the most eye-catching thing is the water-these different coloured reflections on its surface looks fabulous!
Have a nice day

wow and you keep pictures like this in your drawer for so long! Beautiful blue hour work. I like the original POV with the bottom part of he bridge and its arches dominating the scene. Fantastic colors I always like the combination of gold and blue. The bridge make a nice diagonal which across the frame leads the eye to finally meet the attractive architecture at its end.. I like the star shape lights -obviously everything is well thought through here. Perfect timing anyway to get the ideal sky color. HDR very subtle I would not guess it -which means you have doesd it very skillfully to enhance the effect but keeping it natural.

You scared me with the title on this one! I couldn't help but think "Oh no, please don't tell me Craig pulled off a picture of McDonalds "golden arches" as a post on TE! :)
Whew...it's anything but! lol
Isn't it funny how, no matter what we may have lined up to share, that seeing someone elses photos can spark a memory of a similar subject or influence an upcoming post? Fun though, yeah?
I've never been lucky enough yet to make it to Prague, and of all the pictures I've ever seen of this bridge, this is in fact the first time from this viewpoint. The effort paid off big time, this paints it in a whole new way, and still retains all of its elegance and detail. Perfect timing, the oranges and blue play so very well together and create a soothing and warm effect. Smooth compilation for an outstanding result. Great work! Enjoy the day ahead.
Cheers from the desert,

Bella ora blu e fantastica diagonale, costituita dal ponte, a creare una grande profondità all'immagine. Ottima prospettiva!

The dominant old stone bridge is an interesting subject for photography and is amazing how it's framed beautifully in such a peaceful night setting linking to the equally eye catching buildings there. The warm tones and its reflections steal the show which further enhanced by the sparkling starburst effect and your usual high quality treatment is sscond to none. This extremely an appealing subject and romantic at the same time, Congrats.

I have recently visited Prague for the first time and have seen very nice scenery. There are endless opportunities for photography but you have made a remarkable photo. It reminds me of work of some of the renaissance painters.

Hi, Thanks for mention me as the inspiration for this beautiful view. Hiow lucky for you to plan something forward and then to realize it in splendid manner. Fantastic blue hour shot, with marvelous colours.

This may be a widely photographed bridge but most pictures are not as good as this. The golden light and the deep blue sky enhance this wonderful diagonal composition very much.
Kind Regards, Ann

One parting shot before I jump on my plane in Dublin. Speak to ya in 24hours or so ;)
I love your Blue Hours and am raging that you've been hiding this beauty from us for so long. Good to hear that Itchy Feet has inspired you to do so. Lovely exposure, great colours and nice star points on the lamps. A photo worthy of $6.1 million, as I much prefer it to overpaid man bladers.
