The administrative-business centre Zlatý Andel (Golden Angel), a core of the modern heart of Prague's quarter Smíchov was designed by exceptional French architect and Pritzker prize laureate - Jean Nouvel.

The Zlatý Andel building was completed in November 2000 in Prague's district Smíchov. The building was built by ING Real Estate – the same developer who commissioned the Prague 1990s icon, "Fred and Ginger" Building by Frank O Gehry. The Zlatý Andel was the first sign of transformation of Smíchov from a neglected Prague industrial area into a modern city district. A load-bearing structure of the building is a monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton. Especially the outer shell of the building fullfils high aesthetic standards, where the designer compounds glass, steel and common building materials. Contemporary technology met poetry on the facade: red strips of poems appear on the background of white and grey clouds, an angel watches after the passers-by from above the corner. The image of the angel is taken from the famous Wim Wenders movie, Wings of Desire, the fragments of poetry come from the texts of Franz Kafka, Gustav Meyrink, Jirí Orten, Rainer Maria Rilke, and other authors linked strongly to Prague.

Do you see the angel? Even on the spot it was not easy to notice him. I visited this place with Dasha, we were going to see Cerny's gallery and it was late already, so i made a few fast clicks.
