Photographer's Note
Well, it happened again!
When I was visiting New York City last year, as i was walking around on the city streets I bumped right into a real life professional model shoot on the sidewalk.
Here in Prague it happened all over again!
We were taking a quiet stroll through Prague Castle, which has enormous grounds, and we walked straight into another real life pro model shoot.
This one was much larger than the shoot in New York.
The lady here had handlers primping up her hair and makeup every minute or two. There were "grips" on hand holding reflectors to enhance the outdoor lighting, it was an entire scene!
Funny thing is...the handlers didn't like me at all. I was actually getting real close to the model myself, perhaps closer than 10 feet from her.
At one point, one of the 'grips' blocked my view of the model with his large reflector - and believe me, he did it on purpose!
The way I look at it, if you're out there shooting this model in public, expect some casual people to be taking photo's too! And thats exactly what i did!
I added a couple more in the WS too, hope you enjoy.
Cheers
Craig

Hi Craig
Brilliant! Your note summarizes well the situation, and how you managed to get this superb (fake) portrait.
Now, you have to take persons pictures in the streets, without any inconvenience around!

Hello Craig - A super shot provided by a serendipitous occasion. I read the comment posted by Keith with interest and as long as one respects and works around the people doing their professional work, I don't see a problem. The only thing I would be concerned about is publishing such a shot, for that you would need a model release form (I assume she is a professional model). Have a great week Rosemary

Hi Craig !!
You were lucky again!! ;)
For sure you know to choose "subjects" for the capture!!
A profesional realization yours, and not only by the model...perfect focus and colours and a very nice expression, even both WS are very good...well this is another kind of "architecture"... ;)
Best regards...

Hello Craig,
She bares a passing resemblance to an English actress, this model, Joanna Lumley. You made very good use of your unexpected opportunity. An excellent portrait.

Bonjour Craig,
The badluck is following you like the misery on poor people. She was very cute and you took advantage of the poor girl. This pisture is as goog as a professionnal one. So...did you ask her out?

Hello Craig,
Your story is interesting, I can understand how it was difficult to shoot your photos... and I understand handlers' reaction too, even if it was quite excessive ! Nevertheless, the model's expression is well caught, I guess a professional wouldn't get a more convincing result...
Have a nice day !

A very attractive picture and an attractive girl too! I have encountered this situation too, here in Gothenburg. Of course you take the opportunity to your own pictures, like here. There were no protests...

Hi Craig,
Sorry I've not been critiquing for the past couple of days but I had a spot of bother with my internet connection - hopefully I've managed to resolve that now!
So, actually, I have been looking at your pictures and messages but not really able to critique or message back - but I think I've got it cracked now!
This is a fabulous trio of pictures - quite unlike the sort of sober and serious architectural shots you really love - but it would appear that you can turn your hand to photographing absolutely anything and in any situation at all!
What a nerve/cheek/brass neck you must have -I'd be terrified to "muscle in" in a situation like this - but good on ye! It's certainly given you some fantastic pictures.
These really are wonderful "fashion shoot" photographs, each quite different from the others but each excellent in its own right. Lovely lighting (presumably aided by the reflectors held by the "grips"), lovely colours against the plain white background, perfect exposure (no doubt all in JPEG!) and stunning details and clarity.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Ooh naughty boy! I just read Keith's comment and I've got to say that with all due respect to him, I don't think you were stopping these people from going about their business. Good on you for getting the photos, I'd never have had the nerve to do it. Are we gonna have to get a restraining order against you for all these models you seem to "run"into? :) She's a real hottie, although could probably do with a good plate of pasta or a gelato every now and again ;) Lovely outfit too, I wonder how many thousands of dollars it cost. ANyway, a good capture, certainly something out of your comfort zone and 10/10 for having the wontons to take it.
Cheers

Hello Craig,
I'm so glad that you added the w/s, I was so interested in what she was wearing around her waist!
All I can say about the Polish photographers is that they missed a valuable opportunity to see your slant on the photographs. Who knows ... this very relaxed shot could have been a whole lot better than theirs!! Obviously they had not been aware of your TE reputation!
I love it. It is not easy to get a model to pose for you so wonderfully without being paid! This really does have the panache of such an occasion; it is well composed, well focussed and there is an unmistakable ' presence'!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)
I wonder if you will get commissions now!!

I admit this is an astonishing portrait, and chances are that on a routine day - most photographers would not encounter such a moment.
Beautiful young lady, screaming is a bit artificial - but who cares? the sight is overwhelming.

Who longer I watch the picture, the more I

Her pose is rough and sympathetic at the
same time. The make-up is also great and
the picture has a great light management
and composition.

Hi, my friend Craig,
yes, you are lucky on to have found this photographic professional session, with the model in full action.
As you say in your note this it happened to you in NY and now also in Prague.
I believe that you seized perfectly this opportunity for to take a dynamic and vital photo, "stealing" this close-up of the model.
It is a less habitual shot in your work, but you have executed it impeccably.
Best regards,
Josep
