Photographer’s Note

Bereits im 10. Jahrhundert soll anstelle der Stadt eine Zollansiedlung existiert haben. Doma¾lice selbst ist erstmals 1231 als Dorf belegt. An seiner Stelle ließ Pøemysl Ottokar II. 1262 - 1265 eine befestigte Stadt errichten, deren Aufgabe es sein sollte, die Grenze nach Bayern zu schützen. Als Grenzwächter wurden die Choden eingesetzt, freie Bauern, die in der Umgebung von Doma¾lice siedelten (sie pflegen bis heute u.a. eine recht eigenständige Küche und sind stolz auf ihre Trachten). 1331 wurde die Stadt an Bayern verpfändet, diese Pfändung dauerte mit Unterbrechungen bis 1419. Unter den Hussiten wurde das deutsche Patriziat aus der Stadt vertrieben, die seither eine deutliche tschechische Mehrheit hatte. 1431 schlug der hussitische Heerführer Prokop der Kahle bei Doma¾lice die Kreuzritter in der Schlacht von Taus. Im 15. und 16. Jahrhundert wechselte die Stadt häufig den Besitzer, nach dem Dreißigjährigen Krieg sank ihre Bedeutung immer stärker. Erst ab 1770 blühte sie wieder auf, vor allem durch die Ansiedlung von Textilindustrie.

Im 19. Jahrhundert war Doma¾lice ein Zentrum der tschechischen Nationalen Wiedergeburt. Am 13. August 1939 fand hier eine Wallfahrt statt, die sich zu einer großen Protestdemonstration gegen die deutsche Besetzung entwickelte. Bis heute spielt die Stadt im tschechischen Nationalbewusstsein eine herausragende Rolle.

Im Juli 2005 wurde ein Massengrab mit 54 ermordeten deutschen Kriegsgefangenen in der Nähe der Stadt gefunden.

Nice shot of this great city. Your composition and POV are fine using the street to lead the eye through the shot. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and detail. The angle of the shot is good giving the shot nice depth and direction.

Bonjour Georg,
une ville d'une certaines importance et en plein jour qui semble tellement calme. En tous cas, elle est propre et ordonnée, bien soignée. Ta photo rend bien le panaché des couleurs. Une photo nette sous de très belles lumières.
