Have a Rest Under the Tree Photo

Photographer’s Note

There is another side of Werner square in Pardubice, and you may recognize the same tree trunk as in my previous shot.

This time I did not suppress the shades as in the last shot, because I loved the shades of the branches on the wall. I must admit that looking at the previous shot after two days delay, I can recognize that many of the critiques were right that I had overdone the highlight-shadow shift. But on the other hand, there are a lot of details hidden in the shade in this picture as there would be if I did not use the the mentioned PS command.

It is difficult to find the balance for me, and I would appreciate your thoughts and comments.

The light is well managed, and I think it has not been so easy, and you've captured an interesting play between light and shadows.
The composition, with the tree that occupies the entire top of your image, is well thought.

Bonjour Romana,
I like very much this photo full of sweetness and romanticism. The shadows of this big tree on facades are charming. The composition around the lines of the wall and the railing is excellent and I like these golden leaves on the ground.
A great shot, Brava!
For me, I prefer this one, much more "intimate" and more poetic than the previous one.

A wonderful photo of this shady and beautiful place in the town. Such a pleasing composition, with the sunlit coloured buildings behind, the spreading tree and the shadows of the branches. I think you have succeeded very well in bringing out the details in the shaded area - very good PP work. And of course, the autumn leaves on the ground. One of the best shots from Autumn that I have seen this year. Absolutely stunning, a real delight.

A wonderful photo again my dear friend. The composition with the tree and its dark trunk and branches and shadows on the wall is excellent. The colours and lighting are also very nice. I really enjoy this complementary picture that gives an idea what your previous picture looked like before your editing. As regards finding the right balance in editing, I am not an editing expert, but personally I believe that the better a picture is before editing the better result after editing. My thoughts are that it is very important to learn as much as you can about lighting conditions and how you camera works. Make use of good lighting conditions and your camera’s advantages as well as shortcomings. Yes, you could actually make use of the shortcomings as well for special effects. Have a nice evening!

You show something very important...

Ahoj Romano,

Nezna kompozice, nezapre se zenska ruka. Pusobi to velmi prijemne jak kompozice tak co se stinu a vyvazeni barev tyce. Tentokrat si presneji vystihla ty stiny co jsem poukazoval minule. Moc Pekne zachyceni podzimu a listi, well done!
PS: Ramecek se me libi i s temi podpisy, mozna snad mohl byt malinko tenci aby neprebyl tu cernou siluetu stromu, ale to je jen detail. Pa Jirka

I love this picture with the shade and the shadows. Sometimes it is better to hide than to highlight for it adds to the character of the picture. Really more like a painting very artistic and totally gorgeous.

Indeed it looks quite inviting for a short rest. A beautiful corner to have a rest and I think your manipulation of light and shadows brings out a view pleasant to the eye.
