Too Early, a photo from Pardubicky, Bohemia

Photographer's Note

Old Czech folk saying claims that st. Martin arrives on a white horse, which means that first snow often appears on st. Martin's day (November 11th). But, of course, that is rarely true. We usually complain that Martin comes late, but this year he surprised us with first snow too early and rather thick white layer made a few forgotten apples shine in the garden.

Dear Romana,

Oh dear, I wonder if the too early arrival of snow means that we shall all be having a very cold and prolonged winter this year?

A lovely photograph with a rather nice "Christmassy" tone to it, the contrast of the white snow against the warm, deep red of the apples and the autumn leaves almost being festive!

Good composition, lovely colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

Hi Romana, you are right, the winter came this year too early. We had not time to be happy with the autumn colours. Lovely view of this forgotten apples. We have also a lot of snow in Warsaw.

here i am just coming to terms with autumn and the falling leaves and you present us with a picture showing the full force of winter. the red apple is a beautiful contrast against the white snow and greens of the leaves. excellent composition.

it is horrible to think about the long and cold winter that lurking around the corner. I hope for a mild and short winter this time! Nice picture by the way, the red apple with a snow hat have a perfect placement within the frame and the blurred background put the apple in focus, Tfs!

Oh yes, winter came in very early this year. Even for myself that I love winter it was to early.
Very nice capture. The red apple glows so nicely in the snow, it is almost fairy tale like.

a beautiful still life image- the red just giving a lovely touch of colour. the small DOF giving a lovely sharp contrast to the back ground.. a nice story adding to the photo- oh well Winter has arrived and we can enjoy the chill or dream of warmer climates.. Rich

Late indeed !. I don't think I have seen any of your posts for weeks, though I often think to look ! My apologies !!!
A classic winter shot, though I see now what I thought were christmas berries are actually apples ! Doh ! Very atmospheric picture though, even if it harbingers a hard winter...

Richard tells me you may have some news from your searches, or rather no news, sadly.
