A view from Bezděz. Bezděz, one of the most beautiful Czech castles, was built in 13th century by king Přemysl Otakar II. It is situated on a hill of the same name (Bezděz), which is 604 metres high. You can see Ralsko (696 metres), the highest hill of Česká tabule (Czech Table), on the horizon. Česká tabule is an area around Labe (Thew Elbe River). It is a predominantly flat area, but there are a lot of lonely hills, which have a volcanic origin, like Bezděz and Ralsko.
