The Mirror of My Town Photo

Photographer’s Note

On Wednesday I enjoyed a short evening walk in "my" town, Hradec Králové. The evening light offered golden shades and the White tower mirrored beautifully in the river Labe (Elbe).

I also tried my brand new SONY A300 - not bad, I think :-).
Photo is stitched from two horizontal pictures (half for water reflections and half for the buildings).

Congratulations on your new camera! I bet that you like it?

Of course, a good camera is only a very small part of photography, as you have shown here. This one has all your "hallmarks" - beautifully clear, beautiful colours and exposure and very well composed.

You have done justice to "your" town - this is Beautiful!

Romana,
Excellent composition using the refection to create depth and balance. The lighting and colors are fine with nice sharpness and DOF. I like the inclusion of the seawall in the foreground which does a nice job of breaking up the symmetry. The shot is taken from a nice angle giving the buildings and nice depth.

Very nice composition. You've captured an excellent warm light to bring the colorful facades out. The red and yellow walls stand out perfectly against the cloudy sky.
The reflection is impressive, very clear.
Lucky you to live in such a beautiful place...
Your stitch is impeccably done, undetectable. Great work.
Perhaps it lacks a little sharpness, especially on the left building, but nothing that disturbs your nice picture. And tame a brand new camera is not so easy ;o)

Hello Romano,

Using a new camera is a great thrill and also can be a trial until you become familiar with it.

You seem to be in charge already as this is an excellent shot. The clarity is superb both on shore and in the watery refections.
I like the pov, using an angled shot and creating a triangular piece of the land in the f/g which anchors this side of the riverbank, for reference.

La foto es increíble porque ha captado perfectamente el color de esa hora de la tarde, hora que me encanta. El conjunto arquitectónico con la torre, y los tejados, dan mucha unidad. El río apenas tiene una pequeña ondulación que da vida a la foto.

moc pěkná fotka! Krásně se ti povedlo zachytit odraz v Labi a pripomnela jsi mi studentská léta v Českých Budějovicích. U Malše to vypada dost podobně.

Very good technically; I can't tell that this was two images stitched together. Compositionally it's also very nice; soft late afternoon light well captured, and good reflections. The square format is a good choice. There is a slight blowout in the windows on the left building, though.
