Castle Střekov is a medieval castle overlooking the Labe (German: Elbe) River valley in the Czech Republic.
It was built at the beginning of the 14th century to protect the important waterway and to collect duties.
Střekov castle enchanted many world known artists notably Richard Wagner who was inspired to write a poem that served as basis for the libretto to the opera Tannhäuser.

Hello DAve ,
That is here a beautifuland quite impressive old fortress . Some parts of the walls in the shade are very dark , contrasting pleasantly with the light blue sky .

A well placed composition, a perfect angle to gain the full scope of this structure. Great use of natural colors. Must be very interesting to be able to explore the inside of this structure. Well done!
