This photo was taken at the Krivoklat Castle, the same Castle you see in the photo i uploaded a few days ago.
The door is actually the entrance to the castle but i didn't notice the beauty of the scene because of the direction we were walking.
It wasn't until we were leaving the Castle, and walking towards the exit with this exact POV that i noticed the elegant light striking the open black/red door.
Couldn't resist taking a few photo's for myself. Hope you like it.
Have a great Sunday everybody

Nice colours and light. I like the presence of different textures in this picture. Perfect composition.
holmertz (26958) 2012-09-02 7:13
A very nice door. I understand you didn't notice it at first since it was probably already open. The light falls very nicely on the coarse wall. I like the faded grey and yellow tones and the equally faded bricks.
anupam06 (745) 2012-09-02 7:32
Well composed and framed. Love the colours, light and the texture of the wall. Specially like the door with such vibrant colour and the works. Love your presentation.
TFS & have a nice Sunday,

I love those little surprise moments where you stumble on a great shot you missed completely the first time around. You made good use of the opportunity - the light is perfect here, which really brings out the reds in the door and the bricks and casts an amazing glow inside the vestibule at the side. Great use of a single light source to give mood and depth.
Tigerlily (2343) 2012-09-02 8:03

Hello dear friend
Awesome castle entrance with beautiful view map
Good sharpness and light management
Good day and I hope to succeed in life and be happy
Highmountains (1834) 2012-09-02 9:05
Its a very well composed photograph. The vertical lines breaks the picture into three parts and they are conjoined at the ground by the solid cobblestone passage.
From the left - the door - well lit with beautiful metal framing and artwork opens to the central part that has a small arched open cavity ...Below it, the plaster has peeled off and the red bricks have been very well captured. The third section continues with the play of light and shade. The withering of the plaster off the walls with the passage of time has been taken in detail. Yes it is a beautiful composition that we would'nt usually notice since it is the entrance ..
Thanks for sharing.

This is a wonderful shot, superb quality of light and perfect framing. The red of the brick work is echoed in the detail on the door . Complete magic, congratulations.
Thanks for sharing
Ps you may not need spare shoes if you visit and shoot with Lisa, I took her to a few of my favourite spots which tend to be coastal and very tidal :) Next time I visit Oz I hope to go with Lisa to her favourite haunts, which judging by today's post may be a graveyard :)

what a nice suprice to discover the front of this elegant door! I am a big fan of forgings and forgings products( I am manufacturing metal furniture for myself in a small scale)You handled the light in an excellent way here(RAW?)the sunlight lifts the shadows in the exit and enhances the red color in a beautiful way. Well done!
Have a nice evening.
Ps.I guess you had a nice holiday in Europe?
kennyblack (4139) 2012-09-02 12:55

Absolutely breathtaking colors and textures, one of your best photos from your trip, and indeed your entire gallery. I hung it in the group theme "Old Doors."
Incidentally, I just uploaded a photo of Capilano Park.

Hi Craig, Nice detail taken in beautiful light. Excellent composition with the elegant gate and rough texture of the walls so nicely shown with patches of light. Lovely picture.

There is real beauty in this shot. I think it is the balance of architectural shapes and the way that the light is striking the door and stonework. The colours are both rich and subtle picking out fine detail. A super observation that has been very well realised - excellent.
Kind Regards, Ann

mi piace molto il taglio con cui presenti la scena e il buon rapporto tra luci e ombre.
Il colore della porte dà una luce maggiore alla scena e rende piacevole la composizione,

An engaging shot, full of textures, patterns and alternating light and shade.

marabu61 (3924) 2012-09-03 12:41
Wonderful composition with strong colors. Your framing is just perfect here. This is a real eye catcher. Great how the curve of the door is repeated in the arch in the wall.
adramad (27556) 2012-09-03 14:44
Formidable textures that you get with these old walls, the range of different shades of color, the same is great, the live gate adds a touch of color and beautiful graphics, with its design, The effect of shadows and lights also is very good.
Superb POV, I love the photo.
Have a nice day.

La joie de pénétrer dans le château nous fait parfois oublier le début. Heureusement, l'oeil du photographe avisé a su réparer l'oubli avec un résultat de toute beauté.
westcoastgirl1 (660) 2012-09-03 15:49
Yes, I spotted this castle door right away and was busy taking many photos of it while I remember you passed it by. But you managed to find the best POV here. And I must give you credit for noticing this amazing lighting and getting the best composition. It really paid off in this photo!
delpeoples (44960) 2012-09-03 18:58
This is one of your HDRs that I absolutely adore. The lighting is really moody here and I don't think you would have got that type of drama without the HDR. The saturated colours and textures are also magnificent and the tight framing works so well. Congratulations matey, you did good!
Have a great day...evening...whichever it is over there :)
Nard (6913) 2012-09-04 3:11
Here, I really like the light and how we can feel the textures. The door is magnificent, the stone looks with nice relief and details, and the framing gives a very good atmosphere. Out of time. Well done.
janraiski (340) 2012-09-04 5:07
very nicely composed and framed, good light management. I live near the castle and I walked through this gate many times, but I never noticed this beautiful view.
There is only one mistake - please correct region from "Jihocesky" to "Stredocesky".

The light you have captured here is indeed really special, and adds real life and feeling to the beautiful scene. To compliment that, your composition and point of view are also perfect. A wonderful shot.

Now I really like this - it puts me in mind of a Mondrian painting because of the shapes and lines. Great contrasting colours and light too.

Hello Craig - I compliment you on this beautiful shot. To my mind it is as close to perfect as possible. Composition, textural detail, colour and the wonderful ambient light work together in harmony. Top class work! Warm regards Rosemary
jcpix (3299) 2012-10-26 18:40
Definitely well spotted lighting, it gives such a nice, warm tone and creates good contrast of yellow and red. The textures are amazing and sharp. The simplest of things have always been some of my favorites, and this is a great example of that. I'm sure most people would have passed this by and thought nothing of it, but you've done a superb job capturing such great atmosphere. Very well done!
