Photographer’s Note
Artificial ponds are quite significant feature of Czech landscape. The highest concentration can be found in southern Bohemia, mainly in two basins - the basin of town Trebon and the basin of city Ceske Budejovice.
The golden era of ponds building in this area was 15th and 16th century, however first ponds were build already in 11th and 12th century. The main purposes were drying of swampy landscape, protection against floods and fish breeding, which is still very profitable.
This pond is called Bezdrev and is the largest pond of Budejovice basin. Its area is 520 ha and the length of its bank is 18,5km.

Very eye pleasing composition, and color as you've shown it is quite dramatic. Did you adjust blue levels out of the shot?

Hello Jan,
Pleasant well framed composition with a great perspective across the water. The strong colours in the foreground contrast well with softer tones over the lake and the hills in the background. Pity, there isn't a bit of colour in the sky but you can't have everything :-)

Hi Jan,
lovely framing and warm colours. Branches of the tree are closing composition on the top perfectly. Superb light.
