Photographer’s Note
Shot in the walled city of Split, this is the entrance to a nobles courtyard, perhaps still in existence as a vampire, rich on trade before Venice shut down Ragusa, the competing city state across the Adriatic.
A note on colour. The building was lit by a fluoroescent light, with a heavy green colour cast. I balanced the building to a more natural colour, turning the moon the magenta it appears in here. It is the same as using a FL-D glass filter, or "minus-green" gel, the same as you would use in any mixed lighting situation.
While shooting in this cramped alley, the narrow streets of Split were dead quiet. Not being a place I know very well, silent alleys at night make me a bit nervous, when you are standing around with expensive camera gear on display on a tripod. I was approached by a shady character, who knew about 30 words of English, but wanted to talk, presumably about photography. I finished this one exposure and retreated, feeling a bit like an easy target. Night shooting is a tricky business.

Hi Andrew,
You have created a very 'scary' scene. Nice job doing so. I can sense the vampires and ghost walking these streets :) Good point of view and quite an unusual shot.
Thanks,
Christian

Hi Andrew,
what an amazing POV. You managed in finding the moon in a very narrow fissure. I like particulary the climbing plants and the moulds over the old building. Very dark atmosphere.
Congratulations
Matteo
