In next pictures i would like to show you some pictures from Dubrovnik, which is one of the most beautiful places on the Croatia coast, moreover the old city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Inhabitants of Dubrovnik often proudly quote the Irish playwright G.B.Shaw, who visited the city in 30´ies and said: "if you want to see heaven on earth, come to Dubrovnik.."
It´s beauty is really worth to see ;)

This is a very nice composition Veronica. I like the wall being used as a frame against an out of focus background. Very nice colour of the rock, almost look like lava rock.

This is a very nice idea and beautiful composition. Good to see old and new combined. But I think this would look nice too if the boats are sharp so there are more details in the picture. Overall well framed and good PoV. Good shot.

Skoda, tych rozmazanych lodi v pozadi, lepsie by bolo iba more bez lodi, ale chapem, ze to vsetko nejde

Veronika hi,good idea to use the walls as a natural frame, another idea could have been to focus at the background-the harbour-and by that leave the frame blurred.Anyway great shot!

How I miss Dubrovnik! I do consider it one of the most beautiful cities on Earth. Nice pov Veronika. You have isolated those boats in a heart shaped form, so I find this very poetic and full of meaning. And the feel of these wall is amazing. If only these stones could speak. I am sure the history they have to tell has much of sadness as joy. There is a blue cast all around. I am not sure if you wanted this or if it was the camera's WB that was tricked. If it was a trick, you have my workshop. If not, just igonore it ;) Good photo anyway.

Hi Vero! Interesting capture. Even though the view is quite limited, I can still recognise the place. So, how is it going - the fall has really started here in Helsinki, the weather is getting cold and rainy.. It was quite a shock to come here from Italy, where the temperature was over +30 degrees all the time..
Have a nice day,

wonderful intro to the other pictures of Dubrovnik. I like the feeling visible - invisible like here focus - out of focus. It's wonderful the natural frame for this harbour.
Have a nice day,

news go fast! I heard you were back, I came to verify. This is a unique view of this beautiful city. I know you wanted to show the wall's texture, but maybe a higher f would have added nice depht to the picture? I hope you spent beautiful holidays,
jinju (14265) 2006-09-06 3:27
yes its beautiful. I like your use of he stone wall to frame this shot. The textures came out so well on the wall. The f/5.6 is good, Im glad you didnt choose f/4 heheh but maybe a bit like f/9 would give a bit more depth to the image and show the boats off a bit clearer. I really like your oroginal POV though, that is creative thinking.

Great idea and great relization, Veronica! Beautiful "natural" frame and good light control! Congratulations!

A good use of the window to frame the scene beyond, although to be totally succesful I think you needed to include more of the window so that the stonework ran along the bottom of the frame as well.
The colours seem a little strange, with a cold blue colour cast in the background and a pinkish tinge in the foreground.
Sorry to sound so negative, but I've definitely seen much better work from you.
Well done for trying something a bit different though.

I like the idea here, and the use of a natural frame, but I am a bit disturbed by the crop. I feel like the bottom was cut off (why not include the entire 'hole' in the wall? I also think that the focus would be better on the boats.
Seems like a gorgeous place though Veronika. Hope you had a great summer (it's gotten cool here in Toronto lately...)

It must be one of those places touched by a special halo of magic as Sintra ,maybe , in Portugal(where Lord Byron found great inspiration for his plays) . Places that make you dream and float and in which nature and human creations collide into a perfect harmony :sea , history, chill out, quietness and real beauty . Love the POV with that frame that help us to discover the Adriatic shore .Hope you are well and we send you kisses !
