Photographer’s Note
This picture was taken at the Five Wells Square at Zadar. The place made me think of minimalistic art, because the five wells are identical and perfectly aligned: it's a quintuple repetition of the same object. Unfortunately, the walls next to the five wells are full of graffiti inscriptions. The stairs you see in the background lead you to a small park.
From wikipedia:
--------------
The Square is located on a site between the medieval City Walls with a cornice and the Renaissance bastion where the city park is situated. In the Middle Ages there was a defence ditch, a fovea (tal fossa) there.
During the 16th century, the Venetians helped the city withstand Turkish sieges by building a large drinking water cistern with five ornamental wellheads, after which the square was named. When the Turkish threat ended, a park was built on top of the nearby bastion, and nowadays the attractive stone-flagged park serves as the perfect gathering point for skateboarders.
