This is an oldie, and the image quality was very bad, I had to perform extensive cosmetic surgery. Being here in 1994 without war related business was quite unusual, curiosity coupled with the stupidity of youth made me do it. It was quite safe here actually, but the area around Zadar and Sibenik was definitely "closed" at the time, and I took the ferry to get there. This was taken from the popular viewpoint of Marjan Hill, so far the only photo of Split from this spot on this site as far as I could find.

Beautiful panorama of Split! Incredible perspective, contrast, colors and composition. The mountain in background is Mosor (1339 m). Great shot, Tan!

beautiful buildings here, I like the way you took this shot, very good perspective, well done

a very good panarama; there is a lot to see:
the compact fortified old city with the redroofed houses forms the brought centre with a lot of details and very good sharpness, the flats above a thin layer up above, the blue mountains show the impressive situation of the town and the mighty sky and the green in front form an excellent frame.
Thanks and regards, Gerrit

Hi Tan. I like how you called this cosmetic surgery! Actually I don't think it's that bad at all but it's probably pretty good now just because of all the PP work you had to do. Good job capturing the clouds in their entirety. Excellent shot and PP work Tan!

Hi Tan, this is a lot of roofs, well seen and good presentation of this beautiful place. The City nicely framed between the trees and the mountains, well seen & done.

Great defintition and clarity in this shot. It seems like you can see every building, and those red roofs are very distinctive. I think you did a great job working on this, because the quality looks pretty good. Well done!

Hi Tan If the original was as bad as you say, you have done an excellent job at fixing it up, because there is nothing wrong with this one. Lots of detail to keep the eye busy.

Hi Tan, I really like the contrasting colours here - the red of the rooftops compared to the grey mountains, with that bit of green in the foreground (i.e. the trees).
Good POV here too. For an old image it is in pretty good condition! OK, you may have had to fix it up a little, good work though.

Dobar Dan captain,
I have good memories of Split when it was still part of Yugoslavia, I loved the old city with its roman remains and the harbourside promenade with all these small restaurants, a good place and base for exploring the neighbouring islands.
As we could expect from you it's a good overlooking PoV that gives a comprehensive view, not that bad in quality, I like the multitude of small color contrasts between red roofs and grey walls and the good lighting. Standing there today I'd be tempted to shoot an additional one to the right and build a pano.
I wish you a nice week end full of fruitful 20D experiments,

What a beautiful overview of the city, very nice colour contrasts and very sharp architectural details. Its hard to imagine that this photo is in bad repair given how good it looks

Hi Tan, good shot of the "skyline" of Split.
the typicall red roofs are well composed with good colours and a beautiful cotnrast with the green.
i went in Split some years before the war, in the mid 80's.
i travelled in all the formerly Yugoslavia.
Split, Sarajevo, Mostar, Sveti Stefan, Losinj, Krk...what a wodnerful country...

A superb rendering of this lovely scene. Your "surgery" was most successful. The tones and hues here just blend in layers one after the other in the frame - the greenery, the orange and white toned buildings, the mountains and then the sky. The curve of water provides balance and all is seen with amazing clarity. A very pleasing view of the town, well captured.

A superb pov, with excellent overall color & sharpness, but there is a slight cyan tint in some of the clouds. I like the sea of red roofs. Good work & tfs.

what a shot! I think this must be the most number of houses in a photo on here on TE! It looks rather tidy so your surgery must have been successful. Your great abilty of selecting panoramas is as always spot on. The background trees, water, backdrop mountains and scenic sky have all been carefully arranged to protect this jewel of a city with all its fantastic detail.
Superb work Tan!
The best to you,

A really nice view over the city. All the roofs look very nice! The trees in the foreground and the mountains in the background balance the composition well. Good work!

Superb pov, with excellent overall color & sharpness. I like the numerous red roofs with the backdrop of the mountains and the curve of the sea in the FG
