Plitvice National Park was the first place we visited in Croatia as well as being the location of my first post from there. Didi asked for a zoomed in view of this image, so here you are Didi.
You can follow the same link to find the details of Plitvice National Park. If you look closely you can see people on top of the main waterfall. This image is my desktop wallpaper at the moment.
As well as stunning views from high viewpoints like this one, walkways also wend their way in and among the waterfalls. See WS.

I'm glad to be here when you post, for once!
The colours on your recent shots are stunning!
This is just the same! The water is a beautiful aqua marine and the leaves have those lovely shades of yellowy-green - one of my favourite colours. (You should see my classroom - lime green!)
The water looks to be coming from the rocks like a large, natural 'water feature'.
I like the way the vegetation curves around the lake.
Your whole shot wouldn't fit on my screen at first and so I got a cropped view. I think I prefer it without the water in the upper portion; it makes the shot more 'landscape' and a nicer composition. What do you think?
snunney (67430) 2008-07-04 2:29
What a beautiful colour for that water! Makes for a great contrast with the surrounding vegetation. Excellent point of view matched by superb tones and clarity. Looks a very nice place to visit and while away an hour or so.
Paolo (41216) 2008-07-04 2:40
The fantastic colours of Plitvice!
great shot Kath, where you had perfectly captured the tones, the light and the landscape of that marvellous park.
zeynepe (9828) 2008-07-04 2:40
Thanks to your splendid shots, we planned to go to Croatia in August:)
The purity, depth and richness of the turquoise color is fantastic .
Congrats and have a nice weekend,
smarcell (19875) 2008-07-04 2:44
I like a lot this view with the tele lens, a little flattened in perspective. A very good close-up
dareco (17134) 2008-07-04 2:45
Very amazing and beautiful colors. I like the pov. The ws version is also very nice. Such a pretty place to visit!! TFS and have a sunshiney day!
japiey (10163) 2008-07-04 3:13
The tones are mesmerising.
Beautiful image, a paradise feel.
This suits a tourist brochure perfect.
All the best.
Floydian (30970) 2008-07-04 3:19
Extreme bright image, almost no shadows at all. Maybe for my personal taste a bit to bright. But the effect with the waterfal and that great blue of the water surrounded by all those greenery works great. Big plus for the composition.
Have a nice weekend, Henk
cbrman (21637) 2008-07-04 3:41
Ces chutes d'eau ont l'air paradisiaques. Les couleurs lumineuses de cette photographies donnent une impression très positive. On aurait presque envie de se baigner dans cette eau turquoise.
ktanska (21527) 2008-07-04 4:00
This wonderful view works both zoomed in or out I see. You have lighter version that the earlier, maybe because you don't need to worry about colour of sunlit spots. But contrast could be increased by darkening those few shadows.
John_F_Kennedy (41368) 2008-07-04 7:12
What a breathtaking sight! The view across this lake and towards this lovely forest is outstanding. Well done.
Wandering_Dan (3449) 2008-07-04 8:29
Hi, Kath -
A lovely composition with interesting curves, nice positioning of the waterfall, and the lower lake looks very swimmable. (The upper lake, not so much.)
The vegetation color looks off to me; I'm starting to think, though, that this could be because in my neck of the woods, we see a much darker green.
And thanks for the Independence Day wishes!
albertz (2468) 2008-07-04 8:50
This is really a stunning view, both your low and high vantage of this shot were great. But i have to say that i like this most. Well saturated, a very good photo you can enlarge and hang on a wall.
Photo65Net (43120) 2008-07-04 10:07

Stepan (27210) 2008-07-04 23:34
Simply gorgeous !! The colors aare crazy, almost fluorescent (even the green). Good framing, with the green diagonal. A beautiful place.
Graal (88982) 2008-07-04 23:46

Bonsoir, chère Kath,
La paradis : Eternel mystère aux doux accents de promesses. A quoi ressemble-t-il ? Comment y accède-t-on ? Existe-t-il ?
En tout cas, il semble exister à travers cette superbe prise de vue !
Magnifique image qui fait rêver !
kadirim (879) 2008-07-05 3:59

jusninasirun (17142) 2008-07-05 6:00
Hello Kath, You are right about the turquoise color of the water. So beautiful and natural. You are lucky to be visiting places like this one. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni
danyy (0) 2008-07-05 7:29
josepmarin (55063) 2008-07-05 9:55
I remember your previous photo of this place, and this zoom is a nice detail for Didi. Really the most closed angle in this beautiful landscape offers us a bigger visual impact and a few very attractive tones, as these incredible turquoises.
And certainly the chromatic contrast between the blue ones and green it is magnificent.
danos (74064) 2008-07-05 10:06
very nice the panoramic shot of the Plitvice National Park, with these splendid and cool waterfalls for the hot days in Athens.Superb the turquoise waters that in combination with the WS, make the place memorable.I like the vivid colors and the lights.Well done.
Have a nice weekend,danos
PixelTerror (0) 2008-07-05 10:23
Ah the water is sooooo superb, that color is a dream I just wanna dive :-)
Good pov to deliver a comprehensive view. On my screen it's not too bright
Have a nice week end JY
zeca (19762) 2008-07-05 10:48
What a nice view! Beautiful! That many ways of the waterfalls are really great and the blue tones are brilliant! Excellent point of view! Well taken!
JCG (35129) 2008-07-05 10:55
A true landscape of dream that you propose to us here. Splendid framing on these water falls. Turquoise water is very attracting. I like much the harmony of the colors with this green environment. A really splendid area. Thank you for the photo gift, the plays of lights give a relief particular to this water fall.
With my all friendships and a good WE,
ysabaner (1069) 2008-07-05 13:12
Very nice composition, eden. Colors and sharpness wonderful, Well done.
coco (30433) 2008-07-05 14:06
The main picture and also the WS, both are amazing.
I love it. The composition, the light and the way you manage it.
Really an impressive work.
xuaxo (6830) 2008-07-05 14:20
Another amazing view of this area. It's very well done to show also the upper lake.
The green seems too light, but I read your reply to Dan.
bostankorkulugu (40796) 2008-07-05 17:55
a heavenly scene again... you make me wanna go to croatia instead of cyprus, kath... good one from high above...
Cricri (86535) 2008-07-05 22:02
Bonne idée cette approche entre les deux lacs,
toujours une belle lumiére et des couleurs sublime et ttirante
Have a nice sunday for you
rodgerg (55767) 2008-07-06 1:33
This color turquoise is wonderful and very well collected. A very pleasant composition too with the two lakes and the falls.
UlfE (13732) 2008-07-06 2:30
Excellent high POV and superb colours. Having been there I could confirm that the colours look quite natural. In my view your best photo from Plitvice so far. TFS and have a nice Sunday!
pablominto (53744) 2008-07-06 3:07
I notice the amazing colour of the water, just like it is glacier water!
This is a pleasant composition in different shades of green, very attractive...
A well balanced presentation with fine details!
devimeuxbe (58557) 2008-07-06 3:30
This is a nice perspective on the Plivice park. I remember the color of water was very nice and i fint it in your picture.
Tobias__Ortmann (2638) 2008-07-06 7:52
another good shot from your croatia trip
I really like the clear water there(maybe not that clear like in zanzibar but....)
great landscape with great depth and field.
WEll done kath
ChrisJ (86932) 2008-07-06 8:00
I like the high pov & fantastic turquoise colour of the water. Ths falls make a fine anchor point. Tfs!
mark_mk (266) 2008-07-06 8:16
yes, I have to visit this country one day, your shots convinced me! This one is another wonderful one, the colors, the POV, simply great! And of course the waterfall, very idyllic scene. I love the water, I would love to go swimming there, although I think they wouldn`t be too pleased if you go swimming there, since it`s a national park ;-)
A great one Kath, I love every single of your shots of your Croatia series, keep many more coming!
Take care and have a nice sunday
steliosk (4802) 2008-07-06 8:49
Hey Kath, I've seen this one before, its one of the pictures I loved in your portfolio.
like I said there, you're a nature workshipper, and I suppose your favorite colour is Green. However I remember a couple of brown shots taken in forests which made me an impression.
Technically now I see no serious flaws in your photo, the gray areas above those beautiful waterfalls might be a weak area and tells me that you have balanced some overexposed highlight areas in RAW which being corrected afterwards in PS.
My advice I want to give you for such cases, is to prefer the noisy underexposed images rather the overexposed ones which detail is lost even in RAW. You can sweep the noise or live with it, doesn't matter, way better than loosing important bits of information which cannot be recovered.
Like I said, thats a minor technical flaw, another thought comes in my mind is that you wanted it gray in order not to distract the eye from the main subject. Fair enough!!
The POV is great, that gray atmosphere effect is also good, makes you think that there is some kind of mist, however a contrasted scene would me closer to my personal taste :)
chrisnet (21086) 2008-07-06 9:01
This turquoise color is very nice, you have captured a beautiful place, I like much the waterfalls.
alvaraalto (5473) 2008-07-06 14:19
Intriguing combination the fresh green of the vegetation and the turquoise of the water.
robiuk (10805) 2008-07-06 15:51
I like the POV and the blue colour of the lakes looks
surreal (in a positive sense of that word).
But, I have to say that I'm not quite sure if I like the
way you edited this one. In my opinion, I think you
crossed the border when it comes to attempting to reveal
details in shadows - correct me if I'm wrong (or where
you correcting the contrast in pp-ing?). Maybe it's my
monitor... but do I still see a substantial amount of haze
accros the whole frame (especially around waterfalls)?
PS. The WS photo seems not to have that problem - quite
nice vertical composition!
dvlazar (6644) 2008-07-06 18:49
Youve captured a picture postcard photo in dynamic colors and nice light.. framing it well and with natural beauty in the subject.
guillaumejm (0) 2008-07-07 13:33
Wonderful place!. Water colour is just lovely. I understand didi request about zooming. Picture is perfectly framed, with good zooming distance but light is a little strong here. I would say I prefer the pov fom this picture with the light setting of the other one.
riclopes (35567) 2008-07-08 0:18
Olá Kath, I can see from your last post that you also had a labyrinth to get lost - a bit diferent from mine... ;-) This is a marvellous view so I had to run for it. I fully understand why it's your desktop wallpaper at the moment. Waterfalls everywhere, diferent levels of turquoise water lakes with paths in bettween...that must be a gorgeous place indeed. I didn't read the threads, but I like the suggested WSs, specially the first one. Your complementar image shows a very beautiful water flowing effect.
Didi (48938) 2008-07-08 9:00
Beautifull closer view on the fall Thank's to you my dear.
It's the firs time I see clear water; in France there is too much pollution on lakes and rivers exception for the Annecy lake.
Angshu (51174) 2008-07-08 21:08
The waters...I wonder how can they be so turquoise? Amazing sight it must be in real life, when I'm quite awed seeing the picture itself! The light could have been a bit harsh, but is it the spray from the falls that create a haze towards the centre of the image? The green divides the two layers of turquoise at the top, which I also like. Well done!
axiotea (21647) 2008-07-10 7:03
I enjoy a lot to look at your Croatia series and the choice was difficult ;)
I love the way you've composed this image with the water surfaces on two levels separated by the vegetation. Exposure, light and colors are superb!
I'll add this picture to my 'more fav.pic.2'theme.
Henryk_Bilor (20797) 2008-07-11 15:42
Amazing place and excellent capture. The composition and colours are like a dream. I can`t guess if the turquoise in the top is the sky, or the water...:)
stego (22556) 2008-07-11 21:30
You find yourself an incredibly beautiful desktop wallpaper. It's an amazing view, with superb colours, very well framed. It's the kind of view that would be very suitable to make one of those naive backlit paintings that we see in Chinese restaurants.
Probably I wouldn't notice the minor 'flaws' that lead Stelios and Robi to make their WS's, but I like better the shadowed falls and the glowing on the upper lake of their WS's. Managing such bright lights is quite a challenge. Although I feel that you are much better with me on that field, in this case I would probably prefer to have some OE than having the grey appearance.
LamCam (3603) 2008-07-14 14:48
A glorious view! I once, unfortunately, had to cancel a holiday to the Plitvice area, and never arranged another. I now see what a treat I missed, and I must put it on my 'to visit' list once more. You chose an excellent POV, and the colours are superb.
Very best wishes....Maggie
Gessle (70) 2008-08-27 11:33
The colours seem to mesmerize...Incredible colours, and a very nice POV. The sharpness is good and the horizontal shape of the waterfalls is interesting - usually people show them in a vertical photos. Great job.
I like the WS done by Robiuk.
plimrn (21344) 2009-05-06 17:38
I see I've missed some of your photos from Croatia so I'll have the pleasure of seeing a place I'd like to visit through your eyes. I remember the more distant work, I think this one may be even better and the really close-up in the WS is as good as this one. Actually I think this is one of those photos that takes all three works to begin to appreciate the place.
