Photographer’s Note

Pula (pop. 58,000) is one of the main cities of Istria, and it has many Roman ruins to explore, not just the famous amphitheatre.

In the year 27 BC this arch was erected to commemorate the members of the Sergius family.

It was indeed the gate to town. The street behind was the main street in Roman times, and it still leads to the Forum.

The street is called now Sergijevaca, which I guess means "Sergius street".
