The night carries lots of contrasts in it...
The Spanish Stairs of Dubrovnik carried lots of contrasts in a single Adriatic night...

Beautiful light, composition and mood.
But...this red light of cigarette...is it really useful ?

really well composed frame with deep perspective down this typical southern european old cobblestone alley with all these tables out, etc etc (reminds me of my spanish vacation bla bla), with your trademark light dynamic range in full display ... the lady in foreground adds touch of mystery, drama .... and i don't mind that red spark in there, actually did not even see it until i saw nina's comment (but i got ADD these days anyways)

Deniz, bro...

This IS an extraordinary photography.
Perfect in every pixel of it.
I don't see Dubrovnik in there... I don't see the stones and the bricks and the masonry...
I see one heck of a good photography in there ( more than enough for me)

That red dot of a fag up there...
Possibly - the most perceptible red dot I've seen on TE !

I'm still watching you Deniz...

And this time, you've made a great impression on me with this enigmatic image of the night.

I could tell you about the technical bits that are remarkable, but more than this, it's the storytelling that strikes me.

I see people gathering and lovers in full light on one side, than the darkest half where a pair of legs are almost the only clue we have to distinguish this faceless woman, huging the walls...

Captivating image for the contrast, for the idea, for the intention.

Yes, the red dot is essential. It's the only light that comfort that person.

benimde aklımdan yeşim salkımın "son bir sigara içelim" parçası geçiyordu ki korkut abinin yazdığını gördüm ( bu arada parça yeşim salkımındı değilmi)
bir yanda mutluluk ve aşk diğer yanda yalnızlık ve karanlıklar içinde hüzün...

terribly difficult to handle - the tonality spread here was really extreme... this is an example where hdr technique would help to "fix" dark and bright areas... i wish i knew how to do it in practice...:-)

geldim geldim:) ben bos zamanlarımda horul horul uyurken siz ne guzelseyler yuklemissiniz yahu.. bak bak fotograftan biraz uzak kalmis gozlerim şenlendi valla..iskocyadan da gelmissin ben eylül uykusundayken.. cok ballısın is ile gezinin uyumu konusunda..
o kirmizi noktaya bayildim tabiki.. kizin bacak ve kollarindaki parildayan isik da cok dikkat cekici.. sonra uzayip giden karanlik sokak ve kendini karanliga birakmis insanlar ve mekan.. iste genis acinin gücü.. bakis nefis..

There are many characters in this picture. The lonely, lovers, friends of the bars. The girl with the cigarette is like a cat at night. Great capture, excellent management of light here.

Beni biliyorsun hakikaten bu işi hiç sevmiyorum. Fotoğrafın konusu o sigaranın kırmızı ateşi de olsa, İspanyol merdivenlerindeki bu hareketli geceyi sağlam kontrastıyla, cömertçe keskinleştirilmiş görüntüsüyle kırmızısız halini daha çok sevecektim.
Sen yarın öbür gün hdr da yapacaksın ben ondan korkuyorum :p

Beautiful contrast between the left side and the right, Deniz. The left is a shadowy "night" world of anonymity and cigarettes. The right is an artificial "nice" world of restaurants and festivity, a place to hide from the world on the left. A technical feat to capture them both, too. Regards, Ken.
