Photographer’s Note

A slightly renovated early 19th century house from Koprivshtica. At that time Bulgaria was a province of the Otoman Empire and local enterpeneurs profited from supplies to the Turkish Army and could afford such vast houses. After the liberation markets collapsed and these towns stagnated.
