Photographer’s Note
Whereas the custom in my country is to "advertise" (for want of a better phrase) the death of a loved one by placing an announcement in a local newspaper, in Bulgaria the custom is to place your commemoration on a wall in a public place. I was surprised how many there were in Gabrovo and found it a little strange at first, but in many ways it makes a lot of sense.

Beautiful choice of subject, something so peculiar to a community makes for a hearty presentation - even when through sad moments.
