Photographer’s Note
This photo of a Muslim woman and her daughter picking up tobacco leaves was taken in the village of Tatul, Southern Bulgaria. The girl was then 21 years old. All of her sisters had already been married and she was looking forward to her wedding too. We could see that they were burning the candle at both ends yet they were very poor.
