Photographer’s Note
Please, don't take it as a local problem. We know this could be shot everywhere, in my city, yours. That's a problem of all of us. I was passing by car, grabbed my camera and shot. The question is: where are the progress and industrialization going to end?
By the way, have they ever found water in Mars???

Hello Carlos
Ugly as it may be, but it is a superb industrial shot with some really good tones going on in this capture. Its reality as you say but the composition and detail is excellent in this shot and I really like this. Excellent note to accompany.

Hi Carlos,
The color treatment gives an impression of over heating of this factory... industrialization, as you show here, brings some good things, but as you show, it has quite problematic side effects.

Ola Carlos,
Interesting image, specially because of the red tones. The economic situation of this place is well seen in this image as is also the pollution element. Good details and framing of this scene. Thanks Carlos.

Olá Carlos,
impressing by your used light and tonal changes in that wonderful clarity even with the pollution. The sepia touch cares for the impression of dust and garbage. I will not call this a good landscape capture but a good one for human influence.

Buongiorno Carlos,
Molto bella immagine in colori fuoco allarmanti. Bravo.
Passa un buono giorno.

Boa noite Carlos!

Hello Carlos,
Indeed in all country around all great cities can one find this same problem, as long as the rich industrials earn a lot money shall this never change, a pity for our grandchildren, in hundred year have the industry more broken than the previous thousand year.
I find this very well that you us show this excellent image about this world problem.
Very well done, TFS.

Victor

photographically: i like this rendering. the sepia (not sure if you even translated into sepia; could have just been bulgaria's winter colors) works very well here. maybe a tad too much ground (without foreground anchor), but that's a minor detail.
as to your message: well, the problem is quite controversial. sure, we are polluting and 'expending' like crazy, but interestingly enough the 'industrialized' nations nowadays are reducing their pollution footprint while the nations trying to catch up are increasing it... could it be, that the solution lies within the development?
on a similar token, the average human lifespan in 'natural civilization' times (up to late XIX century) was 30-someting years. nowadays, in industrialized nations, it's more than double that. but then, of course, who says humans were meant to live that long. after all, overpulation is the key to many of the current world's problems.
controversy? yes...
cheers,
kristaps

hi Carlos,
love the colours and the polished feel to the photo. you even had the wind blowing in the right direction for the smoke and steam move into the frame, not out of it :)
as to the dilemma - well, something tells me that almost every country goes through a stage of development when industrialization is more important than environmental or any other concerns. some places, like Western Europe, had this stage in 19th century, Eastern Europe - like Latvia - mid-20th century, other places are going through this stage right now. and I find it slightly arrogant of us to try and dictate the others that they should modify their development just because we've already been though that and know what the consequences might be. it's like with mothers and daughters - few girls will follow the "orders" from their mothers without questions and without protests, because nothing compares to personal experience when it comes to deciding what's good and what's bad. I'm not saying that nobody should offer the advice on how best to reconsile industrialization/development with environment protection, just the opposite, but I think we have to remember that we had the same problem, just some time ago.
I'm not sure if I'm making any sense, but the issue makes me think of all those tourists (myself included) that occasionally (some more than others) complain how electricity wires "spoil" landscape, usually in developing countries, without bothering to realise that these wires (yes, they can be ugly) have brought amenities that I take for granted.
with best regards,
Kristine

I heard the news that found water on Mars, but if it is not an excuse to try to finish what we remainder of the planet.
Progress? if, perhaps, but at that price? The photo is beautiful, striking shades, and a symbolic message, in the hope of rescuing what little is left of our suffering Earth.

The way you photographed the place made it look better than it really is I think. The light is fine and the sepia coloring gives it an extra touch.
There is some charm I think in industrial area's. Still nature has to be considered as the real gem and protected.
