Photographer’s Note

This is a shot from my trip to Bosnia. It was taken as the light was fading, handheld and this is actually someones back garden.
We met a young woman who invited us back to her parents house high up in the mountains to a place she described as "paradise".
The house was taken during the war as it is situated on the top of the mountain and was deemed to be a strategic stronghold. It was destroyed as the war ended with the whole area being mined and very dangerous.
The owner returned after the war and single handed, rebuilt the house to its former glory for his family to return to.
Another very sad twist to the story was their son who was sixteen at the time tried to reclaim his home and engaged enemy forces on his own where sadly he lost his life.
This is a tribute to the lovely people who invited us into their home and let us experience a little bit of paradise
Kind regards
Nigel
