The eternal flames of Sarajevo. Just a decade ago, the city of Sarajevo was under seige by Serberian forces. At first, the people of the city thought the Serbians were there to protect them. Soon they realized the stark truth. Completely surrounded by artillery and mortar fire, the people of the city could not get out. Added to this was the constant sniper attacks on civillians. After three weeks of talk in Ohio, a peace agreement was finally settled. Today, every bridge has been rebuilt with the addition of two new ones. However, you can still see the scars on the side of churches and buildings*.

Mark, this is just a correction of your note, I hope that you do not mind.
The war ended in 1995, after 3 weeks of negotiations in Dayton, Ohio, facilitated by US government. Bosnian Serbs were forced to respect the cease fire by NATO air force and ground troops, during the 3 days long military intervention. The role of tunnel was different, it was used as supply route for Bosnian army. War damage in Sarajevo has been 99% taken care off, small scars still visible, and since you have mentioned bridges, each and every has been rebuilt, + two new ones.
Best regards, Djenno
