Photographer’s Note

The National Library was formerly the symbol of Sarajevo and was built in 1896 in pseudo-Moorish style, to serve as the city's administration building. The building later became the National Library housing millions of old and precious books, documents and manuscripts in many different languages, mostly documenting the history of Bosnia- Herzegovina.

The bombs shelled the historical building of the National Library of Sarajevo in August 1992 causing severe damage. Around 80 per cent of the written materials completely destroyed.
The building is now closed and under reconstruction.

Recently there are many advertisements and billboards in front of the ruined building, however among those advertisements, the ruined building among Einstein’s gaze and famous formula catched my attention:
In front of a bombed building , the famous formula E= mc2.

Bosna Hersek’in başkenti Saraybosna’nın sembolü sayılan tarihi Kütüphane binası, 1896 yılında inşa edilmiştir.
