Photographer’s Note

"Dünyada barış daim olsun"
"May Peace prevail on earth"
"Neka mir prevlada na zemlji"
"Möge Friede auf Erden sein"

A Peace Pole is a hand-crafted monument that displays the message and prayer “May Peace Prevail on Earth” on each of its four or six sides, usually in different languages. There are more than 200,000 Peace Poles in 180 countries all over the world dedicated as monuments to peace. They serve as constant reminders for us to visualize and pray for world peace. The more than 200,000 Peace Poles around the world are on all continents, in every country you can think of (source of explanation is http://www.worldpeace.org/)

This photo is taken in Sarajevo. You can still feel all the sad effects war while taking a a walk on the streets of Sarajevo. It was early in the morning, rainy and cloudy, when I was walking banks of the river Miljacka. Suddenly I met with this monument. I sat on a broken bank for a while, cried for humanity and prayed for peace on earth. This prayer was written in four different languages. The prayer in my mother language is :“Dünyada Barış Daim Olsun”.
