Photographer’s Note
Me and my friends always like to have extraordinary vacation, so we decided to go..to bosnia...in 1998. It was few years after the war, but still dangerous... Anyway...we like it... Extreem holidday...why not.
This picture is from Bihac, abandoned, burned gasoline station and B&B. At this time Canadian force were here so they even escorted us through dangerous places...
It is very sad, that in XXI europe we had such a tragedy.
Biha? (Cyrillic: ?????, Hungarian: Bihács) is a town on the Una river in the north-western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, center of the Una-Sana Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Biha? suffered the destruction of many buildings during the recent Bosnian War, when the area around the city was under siege by the Bosnian Serb forces for over three years, until the summer of 1995 when the siege was broken in the beginning of the croats Operation Storm.
Latin was official language in Biha?
Ethnically speaking, in the census of 1991, the whole Biha? municipality had 70,896 residents, of which 66,6% were Bosniaks, 17,8% Serbs, 7,7% Croats, and 7.9% were classified as others.
The city and the region are now becoming a viable tourist destination for its natural beauty. The Una river valley where Biha? is situated provides the best route from Zagreb to Dalmatia so the traffic position is also favorable. There's also a yearly regatta held on the Una, as well as the Biha? Summer theatrical event.

The photo itself seems to be rather unsharp, was it scanned?
You fully captured the sad post-war atmosphere. I´m wondering if it´s still looking like that, nowadays, 8 years later ...
Nice work, nice title, well done!
(BTW: I don´t think that Latin was ever spoken in Bihac ...)
