Photographer’s Note

I still remember a similar photo from National Geography, taken by their reporter almost hundred years ago from the same location. It was year 1994, the bridge was destroyed, I was in a new country and that small photo was so important to me. Even the next year, some of my new friends, who also arrived from ex Yugoslavia wanted a copy of my precious picture.
So, there we are 15 years after, I'm standing on Lučki Bridge (Luka is one of older city's district) and looking at renewed Old Bridge and I feel so much pride.
And there is so much similarity between this photo and that old one.
Lučki Bridge was built 1900 by one of most famous city's major Mujaga Komadina (1839-1925), who happened to live in three totally different times, under Ottomans rule,Austro-Hungarian and new united Yugoslavia.
Since we are talking about old times, there is a short note or even poem written by one of rulers from Ottomans Empire, about 400 years ago by name Dervish pasha about this city:

Indescribable is Mostar’s most perfect beauty
Are you surprised at the language used by this lover of Mostar?
Not in all the universe, not even in Paradise
Could one ever find the air and the water of Mostar....
