Photographer’s Note
There are several bridges across the Neretva river in Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina, but the Stari most is by far the best known.
This is the Mala cuprija, "the crooked bridge", just a few metres away from the Stari most, and actually crossing a narrow tributary to the Neretva. But it is also of Ottoman origin, probably built in the 16th century, and possibly older than the Stari most.
Behind the bridge you can see part of the old Ottoman city of Mostar. Most likely these buildings were destroyed during the war in the 1990's and rebuilt since then. Most of this area was flattened to the ground.
The tall church tower in the background belongs to a 19th century Franciscan monastery, also destroyed and rebuilt.

Hi Gert, As Mikolaj says the composition works with the various elements taking the viewer through the image. The blue umbrella is perhaps a little destracting though and I think I would either de-saturated the blue, locally, or cloned it out. Cheers, Steve

Hallo Gert!
A wonderful place indeed - and an elegant and venerable building! I like these stone roofs very much. What an insanity to destroy all this ...
Greetings from Germany - with severe glaze and +2°C!

Hej Gert,
This is a very good composition! The picture is well built up from the bridge, in a distict line up to the church tower. I also find it quite interesting to see how irregular slate roofs can really be...

Oh my, Gert, this is wonderful!
Beautiful light and contrast, marvelous clear color and an awesome array of shapes and patterns and detail to explore. The tree to the right frames it very nicely, too. Outstanding shot! Many thanks and kindest regards,
Shelly

Hej Gert,
what a complicated, interesting composition which was so successfully realized! And I like the small folded blue umbrella :) It looks so bright!
Concerning the shapes and forms, I like the gradual transition of bigger objects to smaller ones - from FG to BG (or maybe vice versa?) - up to the very church tower in the distance.
This is part of History even though "modified" by present-day human activities...
From this POV the place looks very inviting! especially in sunny weather!
Kind regards,
Elena

Hi Gert. Nicely composed, offering a strong curve in the foreground and verticals on the left. Lovely textures ans light. The bridge is Kriva Cuprija- an image of which i posted earlier. And you are right, all of what we see had been flattened. I think the tower has been made taller in order to dwarf the minarets, but the locals are not impressed by the design and say its like a fire station's tower. As for the Serbian monastery,it had been blasted out of existence. Regards. Klaudio.

Hi Gert
This is just a beautiful composition. Lovely colours and that blue parasol just makes the photo. The verticality of the composition get your eyes move up and up and there is always something interesting to see.
I am quite fascianted with the arrangement of the roof slabs. Stone houses and slate roofing are hardly uncommon in Albania but most of what I have seen have not any pattern whatsoever it is just a "slate-over-late keep that rain out" sort of architecture. I would love to have a coffee at that table in the shade of the "crooked bridge"!
Thanks for sharing
Aleks
