Five years on trekearth Photo

Photographer’s Note

Locally common in suitable habitats. The flight period is May to August. The two Calopteryx species are the largest of the damselflies. The Banded Demoiselle is found on rivers, streams and drains of moderate to slow-flow that have beds of silt and marginal vegetation. Males perch on bankside vegetation in order to attract females.

C. splendens is very similar to the Beautiful Demoiselle Calopteryx virgo. The males of the two species are easily differentiated as in C. splendens the dark wing pigment forms a broad central band whereas in C. virgo it is more extensive.

Mature males have a metallic blue-green body with a broad, dark band across the wings
Females have a brilliant metallic green body and the wings are tinted green with a white pseudo-pterostigma

This was a realy trouble maker. I was shasing behind this beauty of nature. I got a few chances and I could took this on.

I started 17 oktober 2003 with Trekearth, with making photo's, frequently special for Trekearth. I try to make a photograph to look at through the eyes of a painter. I always try to look through a framework before I take a photo. When you look to my photographs you can see the proces I mean.
I have proved myself more, through the critiques from other members. When I look to a photograph I have learned, to have a look with a critical eye.

Yes for this special day for me , five years on trekearth go back to to something I like to do and where I have started here on this site, the macro photography. I know that people don't believe that this is nothing is for trekearth, but I have my weakness.

5 jaar, dat is inderdaad al een behoorlijke tijd op TE. Een indrukwekkende fotogallerij is dan ook het resultaat van deze volgehouden inspanning. Het "Carper-formaat" is intussen een begrip op TE. Zoals steeds is de foto van meer dan gemiddelde kwaliteit ;-) (toch wel heel mooie details) en zijn er weer die schitterende kleuren. Heel mooie macro-opname.

the quality of the composition, the PP, and the most important, the light & moment chosen, are a trademark of Jaap, each post is at least interesting, and a lot of photos in your gallery are inspiring and could be posted on a wall, thanks for sharing your work here, on TE
indeed some noise in the unfocused parts, could be easily improved, but i know you know

Dag Jaap,

Proficiat voor uw vijfjaar TE, ook voor de talrijke malen dat u geprobeerd heeft mij kwaliteit van de foto te verbeteren, door gepaste commentaar te schrijven.
Ik hoop dat we hier samen nog een tijdje kunnen doorgaan, we zijn vrienden geworden via TE, dat we beiden foto's bekijken uit het oogpunt van een schilder, dit mag duidelijk zijn.
Hier komen we op uw specialiteit, Libellen en vlinders daar heb ik u meest in gewardeerd.
Iets waar ik opnieuw niet in geslaagd ben om iets moois te maken dit jaar, wel wat kleine beelden maar niets om naar huis te schrijven.
Dit is opnieuw top kwaliteit, het geduld en de creatie is fenomenaal Jaap.
Ik wil deze toevoegen als favoriet.
