Photographer’s Note

Here is a night view of the famous Brussels city hall, but there it is not seen as often from the Grand place, it is seen rising over a backside street lined by italian, greek and middle eastern restaurants that add a good variety of foreground colors to this landmark.

Now why this title ? The story behind it is that is was spotted by Philippe as we were heading home after a nice evening with other TE members, so kudos to him for the eye, I just came back at a more convenient time.

Quel ambiance dans cette rue, toutes ses lumiéres qui fait briller les pavés, bon POV et perspective, trés jolie faudras que j'y passe un jour aussi...

Oh yes, I know this street, have had lunch several times there while in Brussels... a classic blue hour view with lots of different illumination, I like the six-poited star created from a blueish light on the right.

Hello Jean-Yves,

La saturation des bleus est très prononçée et cela se voit particulièrement dans les enseignes aux néons fluorescents.
Par contre, la pluie a créé sur le sol ces reflets fabuleux des couleurs de la rue ! Cela donne une foule de superbe teintes dans cette perspective !
Une netteté à toute épreuve ici qui fait plaisir à voir ! Le ciel est parfait comme à ton habitude !

this is really beautiful, stunning colours and great perspective. fine composition with the two figures in the middle. what i like best has to be the church spire popping out near the end of the converging pavement. gorgeous pic.

Ce pavé mouillé dans lequel se reflètent ces lumières colorées est vraiment magnifique. Même si tu as peut-être été un peu généreux sur la saturation, la photo est vraiment splendide avec une remarquable profondeur de champ.

Another one of your trademark compositions, Jean-Yves. You seem to have planned everything meticulously. Maybe could warm the colors a bit more, esp. the buildings on the right. I like the depth accentuated by the slightly curving road, as well as the two blurry pedestrians. Regards,

Pretty cityscape at night as allways, captured the pretty lights of the neons reflecting to the stone pavement after the rain with your original framing. The selection of the slow shutter speed that able to stop barely the people, is also great.
It might settle down wide blue space if there is the moon in the sky. How High the Moon?!

Un coin clinquant à souhait. Toutes ces lumières sont un régal pour les yeux! Le fait qu'il ait plu est encore un plus car toute la lumière se reflète sur le pavé.

je râle car actuellement je ne peux pas me payer le 10/22, quand je vois les resultats que cela donne , je vais faire un crédit!!!
c'est excellent, surtout la partie basse de l'image, ou ces paves multicolores ont un superbe rendu .

Excellent résultat avec un bon angle, la parfaite capture des lumières très colorées dans cette rue et surtout le superbe effet des reflets sur ces pavés humides, avec ce cadrage au grand angle la photo devient un parfait exemple de nightshot.

ce que j'aime le plus dans cette photo,c'est l'effet donné par les pavés mouillés!Ils reflètent les lumières d'une magnifique façon,on dirait qu'ils sont recouverts de peinture métallisée!Et j'aime aussi le ciel bleu sur lequel se détache le clocher doré!C'est très beau!

Great colorful shot of Brussels. You made it in wonderful blue hour when the sky wasn't absolutely dark. reflections of lights on the wet pavement looks very attractive to me.

Most of this city I found so unattractive, I thought only the Grand Place offered pure charming view, but this street is different, it makes it look like a well preserved small provincial town with a big city hall, with an absence of cars, crowds, the busy neon signs contradict with the empty street and restaurant, great timing.

Très belle image de cette rue de Bruxelles. J'y passe si souvent que j'avais oublié qu'elle était si belle. Il faut dire que tu as choisi le moment opportun pour la photographier, cette lumière et ce sentiment d'espace. Une photo merveilleuse: lumière, couleurs, composition avec la flèche de l'hôtel de ville dans le fond. Félicitations et excellent we.

Belle "Heure Bleu" haute en couleurs. Les reflets sur les pavés sont très jolis. Belle perspective aussi avec les pôteaux menant jusqu'au clocher. Le mouvement des gens me plaisent aussi.

Yes! J'adore... Ce que fait la pluie pour la photo de nuit est génial. Tu as trouvé un endroit parfait pour exploiter à fond l'effet des réflections sur le pavé mouillé. Belle perspective, bien introduite dans la composition. Le clocher en bout de parcours est parfaitement placé. Les couleurs sont très attrayantes et c'est bien exposé.

En tous points de vue, c'est un travail bien ficelé.

Ton passage en Bruxellie a été rentable!

This is a very fine night shot. You managed to catch the end of the blue hour giving the sky a dark blue color. Good light management here balancing the natural and artificial lighting nicely giving us a nice shot with out over exposing the lighted areas. Your composition is fine using the street to lead the eye into the shot. The photo has excellent sharpness and DOF.

Salut, Jean-Yves. Je rentre d'un petit séjour à Bionaz et je vois mon prénom dans le titre d'une photo. Que d'honneur! Les couleurs sont impeccables et les néons contrastent bien avec le classicisme de la tour de l'hôtel de ville. La pluie, outre qu'elle donne un caractère bien belge à la photo, crée aussi une très belle ambiance en reflétant la lumière des enseignes. J'aime aussi beaucoup la perspective que ton PDV bien choisi a réussi à créer.

Whoooahhh way too different from the usual crowded scene I normally see in this street. I had my Fettucine Alfredo at Giuseppes hmmm can't wait to visit Bruxelles again this August!

Amazing what you can do with that 10-22! The exposures are excellent, the famous PixelTerror 'blue hour' is remarkable as always ;)

This puts my version to shame :(
