The abbey of Val Dieu about 20 minutes before the it was invaded by TE members.

The abbey of Val-Dieu was built 1216 by Cistercian monks. They were looking for a lone valley with a stream for agricultural and brewing activities, a haven of peace full of nature. Cistercian orders are well-known abroad for their brewing skills. The monks of this abbey made no exception to this rule.

Because of the numerous hazards encountered by the abbey over time (fire, destruction, expulsion of the monks during the Napoleonic revolution), monks have not always been able to brew. That explains why their beer production remained limited to the local level.

Fortunately, since 1997, the farm has discovered the typical roar of the brewery again. The only difference with the past is that beers are nowadays brewed by a layman. Moreover, the beers of Val-Dieu are brewed in the former agricultural exploitation.

Ofcourse the beer had to be tasted, how you can see in the workshop.

Hi Harko
Nice to see this abbey as I didn't manage to get a single shot of it!! Despite the rain the tones have come out well and you managed to keep some detail in the sky. Nice framing with the branches too. Pleased to have met you and have such a fun day.
Regards, Susanna

Such a lovely texture for this shot... The colors are fines and sharpness marvelous... Congratulations...

Hello Harko,
Excellent picture of the abbey despite the poor weather. I also appreciate your note and the very expressive portrait of PAT in the WS.
Nice meeting you yesterday. See you soon in Belgium.

Hi Harko,
Well you're showing here a view that I do not have on my cards, was too busy indoors... I like the rendering, there's a definite vintage feeling out of which the grren and the dark red of the spire stand out, nice picture.
Glad that you came, hope the language barrier did not keep you out of the fun,
Have a nice evening,
JEan-Yves

Hi Harko
Very happy to meet you this WE during TE meeting.
Perfect shot despite the white sky. I like the Pat look and feel in the WS !
Cheers
JP

Beautiful pic, I like the natural colors and, yes, the gray sky suits well the setting here.

Hi Harko,
I am happy to met you Saturday.
Veru nice picture well framed, token from an unusual place, amazing POV that gave possibility to frame all the church.
Natural colors and lights.

Best regards from Luik.
Daniel.

Hello Harko,
You managed a great shot of the abbey given the lousy weather conditions. The composition is very good with the off-centered belfry and the sharpness is perfect. You really made the best out of the extra time you had in Val Dieu before the placce was invaded by the TE crowd.
It was nice meeting you in Belgium and I hope the language barrier was not too much of a problem for you.
Have a nice day.
Brigitte

Hi Harko,
Despite bad weather over the abbey, you succeeded in a good picture with real colors perfectly exposed. There's no distorsion of perspective. The exposition is perfect and you did a good job of post-processing. No noise. sharpness. Good composition. All is very natural.
Nice to met you at lunch,
France

Bonsoir Harko
content de t'avoir rencontré samedi lors du meeting.
J'aime le gris menaçant de ton ciel qui donne ainsi à ta photo la température qu'il faisait samedi matin a val dieu. Je trouve que ton église est superbe.
