Instant Replay

Sometimes street scenes are kinda like metaphors. I was struck by the old woman with her walking stick and the young couple walking under the ‘replay’ sign here. The circularity of life.
Shot on the Korenmarkt, nor very far from where the previous post was taken and only 45 sec later ;-)

I again used a relatively slow shutter time to get a nice motion blur.

Instant replay is a song and an album from Dan Hartman (released on Collectables in 1978)

PCS2 tech: slightly cropped, converter to b/w (gradient mapping) altered the contrast, curves and levels for the whole pic and some elements separately, enhanced the colour- and luminosity edges and surfaces, USM-ed , added a frame and saved for the web.

Hey Bert

A clever reversal. The blurs are not where they should be. Instead of a fast moving tram blurred, you blurred the people. Great black and white with really nice tonal range.

Hi Bert, like the metaphor you mentioned here, kind of makes you feel a bit sad. And the b&w from the 30D's are superb, real nice tones throughout. Congrats. Great capture and timing.

Dag Bert,

Prettig weekend, Henk

Hi Bert,
A skilful and effective street scene that carries a lot of punch. The dichotomy between the young couple and the elderly lady is indeed striking here. The very texture of the pavement and cobblestones are discernible with a superb motion blur. The bus provides additional dynamism, while all about are shops and windows to heighten the interest and graphism. First rate, Bert.

zeer fraaie zwart wit foto,
hele fraaie pov, goede details en prachtige lijnen, de speed in de foto vind ik ook bijzonder fraai, goed werk. prettig weekeind.

Hi Bert. A keenly observed urban scene. A double encounter of generations of sorts - the young couple versus the old woman, and the modern tram traversing the cobblestone-paved old street. Fun add with the motion blur, particularly as it is in the people and not in the tram as others might have had it. I don't see an instantly compelling urge to go b&w with this one, but it sure doesn't look bad on it. Have a nice weekend.

Geia sou Bert,
This is an excellent urban scene!I like very much you composed and take this shot. The motion of the people is great here and works very well to give a dynamism to the scene. And the black and white is a wonderful choise.Indeed an instand replay!

Hi Bert,

A really great street shot. I really like the idea of a low shutter speeds. It adds a lot dynamism to your picture. Even if the old woman's stick seems speedier that herself. Have nice day!

Cheers,

Ulf

Hi Bert,

That's life, according your interesting note. In Spain, there was a pop singer (well, he has been famous, Julio Iglesias). One of his songs sayed that (well, I translate and everything is possible): someones coming in, someones coming out, the life follos unchanged. Very nice idea in the shot, I like the gray tone, the blur effect in the people enhancing the movement idea, the time passing, or, better, our life passing! Great shot, Bert! Thanks.

Angel.

Your imagination is really impressive. The meaning of the scene is really strong and you composed that well. A kind of poetry in a certain way too !

Hi Bert

I love the b&w to this work. Nice compo and pov and very dinamic image.

Happy a New Year 2007

Coming soon I come back with more smile

Sergio

Hi Bert,
Excellent street photography. As against the hurried footsteps of the younger couple the measured steps of the old woman is quite a contrast.
Best Wishes for the New Year
