One of the toughest image I have work, it has tons of optical illusions, I have tried to fix and correct every distortion and the more I fix the more show up...

This one was done on a one day trip to Brugge, the day was very cloudy, which are good for BW and de-saturated photos and slow shutter photos.

For this one I was going to shoot only the facade of the building, then on the corner of the eye I noticed the kid coming... I was going to let him pass, then I said in my mind... 'start adding that human element to the images!'

Hope you enjoy it!

Reading your note, very amusing. The human effect. You know full well the human effect has a HUGE effect on a photo. It was well worth waiting, and like a pro you got the placing spot on. In the corner, plenty of room to ride into. Just right. I wonder what distortions you mean, because looking at this I see nothing really wrong. I like the tones of the b/w as well as the huge cross looming over this scene. It adds a spiritual element to it. Christ looking down at the riding child, watching over him. Splendid.

The child on the bike works very well, as does the black and white treatment. The stone work is very detailed thanks to the sharpness of the image. Again, a nice poster. Thanks for sharing.

A beautiful piece, Enrique. Your timing was in fact spot-on to include the kid on the bike with a delightfully subtle hint of motion blur, giving a vivid touch to what might otherwise have turned out a static photo of the admittedly beautiful church detail. I also like the particular b&w tonality that you gave with your post-work quite a bit.

Hello Enrique,

It's to good to know from your note re: the mental planning you do under a cloudy condition. For me, the kid on the bike definitely adds interest to the photo. Looking forward to your next posting.

Danilo

The most beautiful picture on TE ever!

Hi Enrique
Good atmosphere and nice tones in the black and white shot. Good framing and a catch of this kid on the bike. The blur gives the right sense of motion. Good detail and good framing. Well done.

Hi Enrique,
even if I'm not mad of B&W pics for a lot of reasons,I like this one! I like it 'cause it was well prepaired and has consciousness. The lack of light because of the heavy clouds didn't help to You with the colors and contrast,so welcome to this great b&W photo.
Really compliments and have a nice weekend my friend!

Hi enrique
interesting b/w shot, great the pov you use

Good call, Enrique! Indeed, I also doo my best to add the human or other live element into the picture in order to fill in the space and give it a characteristic spark. Also, the human element gives the perspective of size and distance.
Actually, the fact that you needed a slow shutter added to this capture as the smear of the kid riding the bike adds a feeling of dynamics to this stationary scene, and this contrasts spices up the whole scene. The B&W is also in place, emphasizing the graphics of this picture, including the lines and bricks that build this facade. Very good post!

Yes, add human elements, they work often, and the challenge is so much greater and more exciting, Enrique. Love your pp here as well as your composition with the Crucifix and the little child passing by.
Very nice work,
sasa

Enrique,
Nice artistic photo here. The architecture elements, the cross drama and the movement of this kid on the bicycle. I think the cloudiness works well with the picture mood and the B&W.

cheers,
