Photographer’s Note

This is my third night picture of Bruges, the small canals "Reien" its always a very attraction for photographers, the late evening and it still water give a beautiful reflections.
I have the original picture appended, who give comment original

This picture I have cropped to a better composition.

Bonjour John,
Quel agréable spectacle tu me fais découvrir de bon matin !
A l'inverse de mon post d'aujourd'hui qui est une vision apocalyptique du paysage voisin de mon habitation, j'admire et apprécie la séreinité de ce jolie coin de Brugge. La photo est claire, nette, parfaitement éclairée.
C'est très réussi. Mes félicitations John.

well , i have also a lot of photos of Brugge , i am a belgian , and i live in Curitiba , Brazil , nice shot.
Brugge is terrible to photograph , too many beautiful places . I think yours is not exactly at night , but at nightfall , am i right ? if you want you may more of my shot at http://www.belgium.hpg.ig.com.br

You have a nice talent for night photography. The key is finding well lit places that offer a nice atmosphere and it looks like Brugges offers that. What I like about the scene is how the lighting is subtle, understated, but still sufficient to provide nice illumination of the scene.

Hi John, I like to take picture at dusk as well. I think that is a good time to enjoy the remaining daylight and the evening electrical light effect. Thank you for providing the original picture such that we can make a comparison of the original and the “crop for better composition” versions. I do like the composition of both. I like the perspective view, which show better in the original one. I do like the latter, which removed the top of the building letting the reflections to complete the building – a more artistic way. You have shown us how to well use of the lights. An excellent picture.

ik heb een lichte voorkeur voor de WS want je crop hier zou best nog iets meer kunnen zodat de brug in de rechtsbovenhoek een sterkere positie zou krijgen met meer aandacht voor de reflectie als tegenpool, misschien een idee om even uit te proberen ?

Hi John. Another nice attempt at the late-evening shooting, again with a well-balanced exposure to render the atmosphere with the illuminated pieces. I actually think that the original has an equally good compo, if not a better one, but I guess you wanted to eliminate the white sky. Also, a slight rotation to the left could be good.

Hier wil ik dus op reageren John,
deze is aardig maar veel minder dan Uw vorige nacht foto. De reden is dat U hier last heeft van de scherpe lamp recht. Ik denk dat een gewone Brugge dagfoto die we van U gewoon zijn en dan s avonds genomen een prachtig resultaat zal geven. Ik ben hier van overtuigd John. Verder heel mooi om U bij te zien leren. Goed werk,

Hi John, nice again for this "almost" night shot as we can see that it's not completely adrk. Anyway the result is there and the reflection quite clear, nice cropping and interesting that we can see the sky in the water, nice angle, well done.

Dag John,

wat een prachtige reflectie in het water, en dat voor een avondfoto ! Het licht op het bruggetje vind ik persoonlijk wel mooi. Deze foto nodigt zeker uit tot een avondtochtje op de reien. En van de kwaliteit van de foto hoef ik niks meer te zeggen, behalve dit misschien : prima zoals naar gewoonte.

Je suis brièvement passé à Bruges ce matin en attendant le train pour Zeebrugge mais je n'ai pas vraiment eu l'occasion de faire des photos de ce genre... C'est toujours un plaisir de les regarder. Très bien vu, John!

Hi John, The cropping is very good leveraging the warm lighting on the bridge. The original was much colder. The picture is so clear it is hard to believe it is a night shot. The reflection on that still water is wonderfully clear.

A beautiful evening shot from Bruges. I like the colors and reflections in the still water. Wonderful calm and quaint ambience, well captured. I like this version with a tighter crop better. The overexposed sky was a set back of the original version. Well done.
