I wish every visitor an excellent health
During beginning of summer I was in Ghent, it weather was very nice, pleasant temperatures, excellent for taking a nice picture.
I stroll through the city and saw the new bridge on these old river.
A lot year ago was these river simple a parking completely close with earth.
Ghent want very gladly the waterways, again make open for pleasure boats.
A part of the history from Ghent:
In a first phase the necessary bridges were built before the wide Aardebrug, twin brother of the New Bridge and the Bavo bicycle bridge (behind the pool Van Eyck). After a few years these bridges have floated over dry ground a bit of a crazy sight, is now finally launched the next phase of this major project, namely the construction of the Scaldis Luis. The file has quite a few delays, the design of the lock was modified several times, but it seems that the operation will be soon.
The economic boom , came about in the course of the 12th century by the development of the textile industry and commerce , was soon reflected in the population growth of the city . Also, the desire for independence and expanding the territory grew. Since the beginning of the 13th century managed the city magistrate or called XXXIX town interests and caught a large area extending to which the city grew from her first fence . Surrounding areas and rural centers , extracted by digging to the authority of the abbeys and loan given to prominent families , were gradually bought and placed under the supervision of the Aldermen . It was immediately a second defense of canals , dams and fortified gates fitted to protect . The new areas However, the fence was not a contiguous whole but still mostly counting the numerous uninhabited low land that could be put . Underwater by a system of locks

Good morning dear John,
Again a good sample how a well balanced compo should be. Here you've managed a pov and layout which is quite similar to those great painters of early 19th jentury.
The red brick house at the center creates a perfect effect.
I add myself to your wishes for a good health at the beginning of your notes; this is what weall need so much (specially in our ages !).
TFS and have a nice day my friend

Namaste John, another nice shot here. Like the composition with the bridge in foreground and those beautiful houses at back. Great depth and sharpness as ever. Great tonal quality. Excellent one. Tfs.
Subhogen (4067) 2013-12-04 1:43
Beautiful photo of this bridge. I like the row of pots containing bright flowers till the bride. It acts as a very good natural frame on the right side as well as provides depth to the photo. Excellent clarity and sharpness. I like the elaborate notes that follow your photos....they go a long in viewing your photo an enjoyable endeavor. Thanks for sharing.
hidibyendu (929) 2013-12-04 3:23
I sometimes wonder how this much clarity comes in your picture. Excellent pov with the stairs in the fg. Superb colors. Magnificent composition.
mkamionka (38393) 2013-12-04 3:40
beautiful view of this famous photogenic town. I don't remember seeing this view before. Nice contrast of the white and red building and lovely foreground with the bridge stairs and even some flowers.
timecapturer (49288) 2013-12-04 4:12
delightful shot of this beautiful old town. The new bridge is graceful and so in keeping with the local architectural heritage. Your composition here is just so perfectly balanced and of course your execution flawless as always. Superb!

pierrefonds (68143) 2013-12-04 4:13
The length of the river is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the architecture of the bridge and of the buildings. The quality of the light is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.
jacquest (18927) 2013-12-04 4:22
The point of view is well chosen to show the elements of interest which are numerous. I like the way you have constructed your image. The strong summer light has been well managed to give an image of very good quality.

aleXundar (1256) 2013-12-04 7:30
Excellent image of the small bridge and buildings beyond it. Colors and shapes are so well-balanced that the overall impact is very pleasant.
Thank you for another charming frame sir,
With best regards,
ikeharel (73555) 2013-12-04 7:31
Summer scenery over a beautiful location, John, most attractive is the orange-color house, with its turret and the archi.-style. It is in great contrast to the surrounding.
Flowers and green plants decoratyed the streets and around the canal area.
Pleasent to look at, and of-course to stroll along...
eldancer1 (36343) 2013-12-04 7:57
Very nice capture of the new bridge and the old architectures. Not much contrast between the old and the new which is good. Good lighting and nice details. Well done, tfs.
holmertz (55007) 2013-12-04 8:37
There are beautiful colours in this well balanced composition. The bridge looks fairly ordinary but the buildings behind are very elegant and impressive. There is a fine distribution of orange coloured details, which match the green areas very nicely.
Romano46 (18472) 2013-12-04 10:14
Ciao e buona serata
Graal (103034) 2013-12-04 10:44
interesting presentation of new bridge in Ghent. Good POV and composition. Well quality of image, larger version also. Photo I like.
Thank You and I wish you an excellent health, too. Nov.28, I ended 70 years old.
Have a nice evening.
ourania (47844) 2013-12-04 10:51
you balanced this composition superbly using big structures and small details. Everything seems to have been placed wisely within the frame. The buildings are lovely and elegant and must have an important place in the city. The strong midday light has given the view a luminosity which you've handled in a bold and agreeable way. I like how the cityscape is outlined against the clear blue sky. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
cornejo (43859) 2013-12-04 11:45

Very nice composition with many details to observe.I particularly like the architecture of the orange building.Beautiful flowers along the handrail on the right. The water in the canal seems to be very clear and offers nice reflections.Very well done.

This is the second shot of Ghent that I have critiqued, today. It is a lovely city!
I like your viewpoint which has good leads towards the focal orange building. There are lots of other interesting details to interest us and there is an gentle ambience about the shot, which allows us plenty of time to absorb them.
Have a lovely day,

The red building stands out here! A very attractive cityscape with a very pleasant atmosphere.
kato (11630) 2013-12-05 11:22
You're capturing well this place by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the calm canal which is flowing the city, the lovely bridge on it and some historical architectures of backdrop. The whole is harmonized well by a good arrangement and beautiful color combination. It's also tasteful for landing place of canal at left side. And, The greenery arounf the canal draws out the gentleness in this image.
PaulVDV (29845) 2013-12-05 13:43
Vele groeten, Paul
mcmtanyel (24567) 2013-12-05 19:54
That building with an onion-domed tower is really nice. I also like the reflections in the water, as well as the reflections of light under the bridge.
Kugart (1778) 2013-12-06 2:38
Nice well balanced shot of this scene from Ghent with a mixture of old and modern architecture .Old red brick building perfectly positioned and makes a good contrast to the white building on the left. Nice setting with the river and the colourful flowers in the foreground. Good POV, colour and clarity in the shot.

A highly informative note, in the best spirit of Trekearth, accompanies your excellent photograph. The wide span of the bridge is a useful compositional device holding the photograph together. It does not appear as just separate disconnected buildings. Lovely photo as usual, John. Best regards to you and Jenny both, and early wishes for a very happy holiday season.

A view and picture of Ghent worthy of its attraction, this would be well utilized by the tourist board to help promote the beauty of this city. I like all of the elements you've combined within this framework, and their placement as a whole is well balanced and a pleasure to look upon. The prevalent orange/green/blue color combination is easy on the eyes, and the bright sunlight has been evenly exposed over the scene. Looks cheerful and inviting. :)

I am enjoying your photos from Ghent, we are planing a trip there in summer 2015 and you are giving me good places to visit.
Your composition is very nice here using the canal to lead the eye into the scene. The bridge provides a nice line across the scene drawing the eye to the buildings on the left. The lighting and colors are great as is the photo's sharpness.
