New site Aug 2013: all new pictures

I hope you enjoy of these picture, I try always to do my best for a good image.

Saturday I was in Bruges, a pity a little bit bad weather, but half of November is this maybe completely normal.
These place is a little exterior the city but a very good place for a good stroll.

What you can see on these picture.
The “Poertoren” between the branches of the trees, a thick 18 meters above the water towers , was built in 1401 by master mason Jan van Oudenaarde and is a relic of the late medieval fortifications . The city hit the tower in its stock on gunpowder.

South of Bruges flowed several tributaries and streams in the Reie, (small canals ). The Brook Church , for example , resulted in the Reie just before crossing the moat. All that water ran through Bruges within the Lake of Love .

The Lake of Love itself is not a natural lake , but probably originated in the 13th century as a kind of dam lake and holding tanks , at the time were at the height of the current “Sashuis” locks built . This was necessary in order to keep the water supply. Under control The flow of Reie (small canals) was rather mixed . The lowest-lying parts of the city were flooded by a sudden thaw or prolonged rainfall. As long as no one lived , this was not a problem , but as the city expanded further and lower areas , as were the “Meersen” , cropped , mainly in the 13th century was the case , it was obliged to master the vagaries of Reie
