I try a panning picture with move in the wheels and blurred background
I think all the tourists, had ever been taken for this beautiful trip through Bruges, one of this carriages in Bruges
Personally, I'm a little indignant because the animals always have to walk, but are replaced after four hour.
A romantic trip through the heart of Bruges along the canals, over ancient bridges on the rhythm of the clop of the horse.
The driver explains halfway and rest the horse as the Begijnhof while you can get.
An ideal and highly personal way to discover Bruges.
Along the way you will see all sorts of picturesque corners, museums and historic sites.
Normally drive the carriages to the Begijnhof and back.
Depending on traffic conditions or events explains Tourism Bruges sometimes other routes.
In good weather, the coaches also drive in the evening during the atmospheric lighting (up to 22 hours).
Thanks for viewing

Hi John. There is something appealing about an open carriage and a 360degree view, plus the comfortable pace. Mind you the horse is working, while the passengers are sitting- yet, if the animal wasn't earning his keep, it would probably be dispensable like millions of its cousins. A successful panning shot with just the right amount of blurring while the important participants are sharp and clear. Best wishes for the week. Klaudio.

Ottimo scatto, molto dinamico.
jemaflor (88857) 2013-09-08 23:55
Excellent panning perfectly managed, bravo ! Interesting scene and dynamic photo, tfs.

Bonjour, cher ami John,
Bravo pour la réactivité et pour cette superbe prise de vue.
L'élégance de la démarche du cheval contribue à la beauté d'ensemble.
Une excellente prise de vue.
krzychu30 (15510) 2013-09-09 1:24
magnificent captured fro Bruges!Just love the way you were able to present here the movement and dynamic of the scene. The sharp and clear carriage against so nicely blurred background creates really amazing and eye-catching visual effect.
Bravo for framing and execution!
Have a nice day
snunney (89108) 2013-09-09 2:36
A very successful panning shot I would say, the sense of movement is very nicely evoked whilst the main subject is pin sharp. Very fine technical presentation.
subhendu_bagchi (25973) 2013-09-09 2:43
namaste John, a nice composition with the horse driven cart here. Like the old aged atmosphere here . Very good light management. The interesting thing here the tilt architecture at background while the cart is placed straight in the road. I have no idea about it. Excellent depth and fine colour tone. Overall another nice one. Tfs.
jacquest (18869) 2013-09-09 3:39
This image is very well done with an excellent focus on the coach and natural colors. We have that kind of coach in Quebec too.
dkmurphys (52315) 2013-09-09 3:43
Very fine dynamic scene from the center of Bruges. I'll always remember with melancholy about that amazing town.
Have a good day.
pierrefonds (59850) 2013-09-09 4:51
The blurred background is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and colours of the carriage. The good luminosity is enhancing the colours. Have a nice day.
timecapturer (49288) 2013-09-09 5:25
a technique that always look easier on paper than in real life. This is perfect though as it successfully conveys the movement and fascination of travelling around this beautiful City by this means. Excellent!
Have a good week - Brian.

You wrote "I tried a panning picture"...
WHAT A TRY that gives airs to the scenery of a 'très chic' promenade in a royal carriage!!
Many compliments for this inspirative result seen over motion blur.
I look forward to see the marvels of your future camera pannings....when you can deal perfectly (!!) with this difficult technique, of course!
Thanks for the photography lesson.
ourania (35916) 2013-09-09 8:36
a very skillful and extraordinary capture, it's like a movie, the movement of the carriage is perceived in a very effective and fascinating way. The details on the carriage and the people have been rendered excellently and the interaction between the driver and the passengers adds great interest and vividness. The background is picturesque and interesting too, the bluriness is perfect. I also like very much the sense of depth and the absolutely natural and delightful colours that contribute in making this scene come alive. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Ciao John, lovely composition with nice carriage, fantastic panning, wonderful colors, relaxing atmosphere and splendid light, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
holmertz (44552) 2013-09-09 10:09
Certainly the horse is the nicest looking participant in this picture. I would be reluctant to go on a tour like this, but I respect any way to make a living that doesn't harm anyone. You captured the horse and carriage with good sharpness in a successful panning shot.
PiotrF (11172) 2013-09-09 10:36
Nice view picture with move in the wheels and blurred background. Excellent captured and pleasant presentation. For me super

An extraordinary shot showing the chaise in the movement. I like the blurred BG - You used a panning in fantastic way. I try to take such kind of photo but with a very bad result :-(. This shot is superb!
All the best,

all the best always
Periko (3581) 2013-09-09 19:14
This is a beautiful picture, John. I like the carriage and horse in perfect focus against the blurred background.
tyro (21818) 2013-09-10 2:40
This must indeed be a wonderful way to view the city of Bruges! A lovely slow romantic ride through the city with a guide to point out all the interesting buildings and features of the city!
You have done a wonderful technical job here of "panning" the shot at a slow (1/60 second) shutter speed to keep the carriage and its occupants perfectly sharp agaianst a "moving" background and with just enough motion blur in the legs of the horse to show its movement.
Excellent composition, perfect exposure, lovely light and colours and exquisite details and sharpness.
mesutilgim (88598) 2013-09-10 3:32
Hello dear John,
Nice capture of this 1 HP old charriot !
Good that you have moved the camera, while focusing on the main subject.
TFS and best regards
ikeharel (62173) 2013-09-10 3:49
Nice dynamic scale shown when the horses-carriage passed. I think the coachman was looking directly at you, while he was talking to his tourists passangers.
Still good sharpness over the mainsubject, the carriage.
Fis2 (89425) 2013-09-10 10:01
Good work, curious effect.
I like frame and colours.
danos (89937) 2013-09-10 10:27
nice the view as the presentation of this panning picture with the passing by carriage to be well captured.I like the whole presentation with the blur backdrop to makes the whole image even more effective.
abmdsudi (46276) 2013-09-10 10:57
Cleverly observed and composed of a rather busy street scene turning this to old time feel with this horse carriage as main focal of attention. Excellent pp treatment and tis is particularly descriptive just enough to strengthen the image with good feel of movements. Great capture, Congrats.
TRB (13914) 2013-09-10 13:47
Nostalgic and romantic, with a very nice view.

My beste wense.
mvdisco (17784) 2013-09-10 19:13
Jolie prise de vue d'actions avec un léger flou,
belle netteté et composition,
Excellent focus et détails...

tous mes compliments..
Alco (7107) 2013-09-10 20:00
A pinning picture successfully taken. Not an easy technique but you got a perfect result. We can see the movement of the carriage and also the movement of the horse but the persons are clear and the background is blurred.Congratulations.
kato (11630) 2013-09-11 15:54
You're capturing well this scene by a good composition, a good focus and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the spectacle in which a horse pulls the long carriage on which the tourist was put and moves about the famous place in the city. The treatment of a driver's horse looks skillful, and it's good design for the carriage.
Graal (99830) 2013-09-11 22:57
nice scene on the street of Bruges. Fine DOF and panning. Good shot and stopped motion. Photo I like, is very well done.
Have a nice day.
gervaso (11382) 2013-09-12 4:21
Even with the low speed of the carriage, you got an excellent panning, with a beautiful dark blurred background and a great sharpness of the main subject! Wonderful composition, with a perfect framing! Well done!
mirosu (15156) 2013-09-12 5:34
You are posting outstanding photo of highest clarity. I like your excellent viewpoint from where you have captured the horse carriage in full beauty. I also like your excellent exposure and perfect focusing. You have managed nice separation from background without destroying the interesting BG. Excellent photo, congratulations.
p.s. are you a biker?

Hi Bonsior dear John
Sorry for my late reaction to you as usual.
Wow supper shot has come from you! Great panning picture via your high technique! Outstandingly marvelous, professional work in the workd!
All the best and have a good day! Takero
jcpix (13812) 2013-09-12 16:34
Ahh yes, there's the technique...and it looks fantastic! It really captures the motion, without losing any of the focus on the main subject(s). I find it amusing that the gentleman steering the carriage is looking your way, while the couple is completely unaware and paying attention to something in the other direction...making for a contrast of regard. :)
The timing to catch the horse in such a stride is a thing of beauty, this turned out really well. Most impressive work once again! Thank you for the comments today, i truly appreciate the sentiment. Have a great day ahead.
photoray (13450) 2013-09-12 19:28
Excellent panning technique, placing the carriage in fine resolution and the high stepping horse, with the background and rotating wheels blurred.
Nicely composed and created,
mcmtanyel (16067) 2013-09-12 20:32
The panning is exquisite. On top of that, excellent color and light, great framing and you have a winner!
fabbs99 (16815) 2013-09-12 22:48
Another great shot from you. I love the way you locked the focus on the carriage.Very well composed with splendid colors and saturation. The lighting is also amazing as well as perfect POV too.Excellent composition, good presentation too. Very well done, TFS.
ChrisJ (103665) 2013-09-13 1:17
Good panning to get perfect sharpness on the horse and cart and motion blur in the bg. Excellent shadow detail and framing with plenty of space at left for the horse to 'move' into. The motion blur on the hooves and wheels is also excellent. Tfs!
Buin (42362) 2013-09-13 3:55
This photo is a wonderful little work of art. It's simply fascinating how you managed to depict the carriage pin sharp in front of the blurred background.
The wheels and the horse's legs nevertheless give the impression of dynamics. Great work!
Greetings from already very autumnal Westphalia!
macondo (18623) 2013-09-13 4:39
First, I believe it may be your birthday today (13 September) - so, 'Many Happy Returns' as we say in English. I hope it's a lovely day for you and your family.
Despite the blur caused by panning, I recognised the building and the square in Bruges right away. I knew it must be near your home. The horse and carriage are as sharp as they could be, wich helps to make them stand out against the background. The very slight blur of the horses hooves and the wagon wheels adds a feeling of movement. So, for a 'try' at panning, it worked out very well.
s_lush (16134) 2013-09-13 6:45
This was a very good idea to show the dynamic movement of the carriage through smashed blurry background while the moving objects remain clear-cut. Excellent presentation of busy atmosphere of this picturesque historic city!
Best regards and Happy Birthday to You!

Great postcard from Bruges! Beautifully presented this horse at the trot :)
Excellent POV and composition of the painting, beautiful colors and depth of field.

This is a masterful composition.
The look of the coachman and the passengers looking on to him
make it all perfect.
rychem (27566) 2013-09-14 11:02
Great! Excellent photo with a sharp carriage and blurred BG, perfectly shown movement of this cab
mkamionka (32373) 2013-09-15 2:49
excellent work! I like how you have managed to freeze the carriage while having the background slightly blurred. But what is fantastic here is that it is blurred but clear enough to recognize some beautiful details of the architecture. Thus we have both a great action scene and as well everything in a fantastic setting of the old town.
A real masterpiece.
UlfE (14641) 2013-09-15 11:03
A bit unusual photo in your gallery. I like the blurred background that gives the impression that the horse carriage is moving quickly. Great to see that your a experimenting a little bit. The result is excellent. TFS and have a fine week!
batalay (36769) 2013-09-18 5:50
This is a highly successful panned shot of the horse-buggy and riders, with the background a lovely blur. The healthy Belgium horse seems to be in a trot. As always, you've given us a lesson in photography, with a subjective (personal) and an objective (touristic) note.
serp2000 (41884) 2013-09-18 19:23

Perfect capture of this beautiful carriage, which we see with vivid clarity, while the background is a bit diluted, so that the main subject stands out even more with all its details, great as this captured the feeling of movement.
A perfect colorful natural.
A very bright image with optimum clarity.

Old and classic view.
