Lunchtime in Bruges Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another postcard style posting - this time from the great old town of Bruges.
For someone from "down under" the architectural styles of Belgium (well.... and most of mainland Europe) are totally different to what we are used to so I do spend a lot of time looking at the detail and taking architectural photos.
Both the style and the colour appealed to me on the main square in Bruges. But... it was also lunch time so lots of people were doing the crawl around the menus trying to decide what to eat.
Now I also have a confession to make. There was a whacking great crane behind the buildings so it just had to go! I'll post the original as a workshop. if you look at the workshop photo you'll also notice that I have done a little straightening and cropping, although the buildings on the left were naturally crooked.

You habe benefitted from and used well optimal conditions to deliver this nice postcard, these heritage houses on the main square look great contrasting against the blue sky. Better eat elsewhere though...

Hi Ian.
Wonderful colours in this straight-ahead picture of some marvellous Bruges architecture. I have spent a lot of time in Belgium, mainly Gent, and I know how hard it is to make a photo look straight because of the buildings! I agree with your cloning out of the crane.
The weather was clearly superb, quite different from the incredibly cold January day that I went there by train from Gent. So cold I could barely hold the camera, and gloves hardly help you to fiddle with the controls or push the button. I like the way the people on the left are striding into the picture. The WS shows what a good job you did of the PP on this one.

Yep, that is a perfect postcard with greetings from Bruges. The houses contrast nicely with the blue sky beyond.
