Photographer’s Note

Brussels was in a festive mood just after Christmas : it was the first time that I could enter into the church having the name of "my" saint, Ste Catherine church, around which the "Plaisirs d'Hiver" festival was located (in the city centre : merry-go-round, mime show, skating ring etc), attracting crowds of visitors ;

... inside, it was interesting to see how nowadays very secular Belgians were behaving. Only a few seemed to pray really (like this group), all the others only caught by the magic of the candles and the sight of the crèche in the choir.

Hi Cath, I like this one a lot. Presenting well the darkness of the night, with the faces lit up by candles. A shame the man in the middle moved, but only a minor thing. cheers, Steve

your mini camera has a specific style in your hands.
as previous ones this photo has a unique style. the expressions on the faces, the timing and framing are very good.

Hi Cath, you must be very pleased how well your new camera works in these low light situations. The detail is crisp and sharp and the B&W is rich & contrasty. Assuming this was hand held too, the results are quite remarkable. It would be nice to see the camera info if possible.

I maight sound boring, but I repeat myself again:
A photographer is a photographer is a photographer regardless of time, place, and situation.
It looks to me that - wherever you are cath, you are always ready and able to pull out that one and only moment in time to press the button.

Cath, dear...
This is the highest class photography there is.

Capturing every bit of light those candles provide and doing so in a spectacular way. We have again people looking up, here in a religious surounding as if they're waiting for something devine.
