Photographer’s Note

The mist was there for the whole two days we spent in the monastery, together with freezing temperatures...a mood I enjoyed...Very few people around, one wakes up at the sound of birds and the bell.

9 a.m. here. Its the time for Terce prayer for those who like to attend. Terce, or Third Hour, is a fixed time of prayer of almost all the Christian liturgies. It consists mainly of psalms. Its name comes from Latin and refers to the third hour of the day after dawn.

The monastery does not live in isolation and turned in on itself. From the very beginning, Saint Benedict wished the community to be open, living in relationship with the surrounding society
The guest-house welcomes both the young and adults, men and women, groups and individuals for periods of retreat and recollection, or simply to spend a quiet time...

To enhance the peaceful atmosphere meals are in silence with background music. For the same reason, silence is requested inside the house and in the guest-house grounds. Conference rooms and parlours are available for meetings.

The camera was on the windowsill. This part shows the guests grounds and the church. With the three main meals the price is 33€ per person for a room. People who are not able to afford this are welcome, they may for example help a bit in some works, there is always something to do...

Increased contrast by 6%, a bit more light, resharpened.

The workshop shows a view from the church towards the kitchen and some of the rooms. Ours was the 3rd from the left on the top floor.
