Photographer’s Note
Les Roches Noires are aptly named because the dolomitic limestone that is is very dark in color. They dominate a former meander of the Ourthe now occupied by meadows.
Erosion has cut into wedges impressive rocky, sunny and warm. The "big rock" and the "Lion Rock" so shelter flora and vegetation of the most interesting features of dry calcareous grasslands and oak woodlands to charm thermophiles. Here we observed a large grass once rare, the unilateral nardure (Nardurus maritimus) which grows on the arena (coarse sand) dolomite.

Hello John!
Excellent landscape photography! Great job in almost panoramic framing and composition, but the strongest part of the photo is the light management and the brilliant colours! Congratulations!

Salut John,
