Une vue du funicualire de Spa.
Spa (Spa in Walloon) is a municipality of Belgium located in the Walloon Region in the province of Liege.
Known for its thermal waters, probably since Roman times, spa began to take off in the sixteenth century when the reputation of water led to a real trade. The term spa has become a generic term for hydrotherapy in English and some other languages [1].
Spa has become a rendezvous run of European nobility, the Emperor Joseph II (after his visit in 1781) called it the "Café of Europe". And indeed at Spa has become the first modern casino, Redoubt, on the initiative of co-mayors of Leau and Gerard Lambert Xhrouet. Among those who stayed at Spa, retain Victor Hugo, Czar Peter the Great, the royal family of Belgium, Casanova, Alexandre Dumas pere, Meyerbeer. Social life in the eighteenth century to the Spa is widely presented in the movie Barry Lyndon by Stanley Kubrick.
The Romantic painter Édouard Delvaux was director of the Drawing School of Spa, the city where he died.
In March 1918, the German army installed his headquarters operations. That's where the German strategists unleashed the last major German offensive of the First World War: the Michael Offensive. The Spa Conference was held from 5 to 16 July 1920 and set the Russo-Polish border along the Curzon Line.
After a period of slumber in the late 1950s, spas restarts more beautiful with superb facilities Annette and Lubin, atop the hill overlooking the city. A funicular allows access.
The surroundings of Spa are conducive to walking in the High Ardennes, known as the Ardennes blue, home to many water bodies such as Lake and Lake Warfaaz Gileppe.

Bonsoir John

Hello John,
A splendid downwards point of view over the town. The eyes are guided down the funicular and through the gap in the trees to an interesting ensemble of architecture. Lovely colours in the framing trees and excellent sharpness throughout. Very well seen and presented.

Bonjour John,
C'est une plongée d'un "grand huit", impressionnante vers la ville. L'encadrement des arbres focalise le regard dans le sens de la "chute". C'est bien fait, et bien réalisé. Bravo.
Bon dimanche.
Amicalement.

Very good pov and composition, the place it's worth while and I love the pictures taken from a high point.
The town is well framed by the trees, and contrast and colours are fine even if the sunshine was absent.
Best regards,
Donato

Hello John,
An interesting point of view to show the town!
The rails work well as lead-in, and the elevated view framed by the foliage creates depth and interest value...
A balanced composition with good depth, personally I might have cropped 1 cm or so in the top..!
