‘Liège - White splendor in the night’
This is my third (and last) picture of the railway station of Liège-Guillemins.
I had some fun with the framework :) and wonder what you think of it. I expect me to comments such as ‘The frame demands too much attention’.
It's just something that I've tried. And basically, I find that it shows what I wanted to demonstrate: At nighttime the design by Calatrava turns the new station into a large, white, bright, magnificent building surrounded by darkness.
The railway station of Liège-Guillemins is designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. It was officially opened on September 18, 2009.
It has 9 tracks and 5 platforms (three of 450 m and two of 350 m). The station is made of steel, glass and white concrete. It includes a monumental arch, 160 metres long and 32 metres high.

Ciao Paul
un'altra bella variante del tuo soggetto preferito.
TRovo audace, me nello stesso tempo piacevole la cornice obliqua, mentre, come tuo solito gestione della luce, nitidezza e luminosità sono ai massimi.

Hello Paul
Well I don't agree with you that people might think that the frame demands too much attention. I actually think this frame makes the image work better than it would without it. Also, in my images I sometimes use a tilted or twisted POV to emphasise the lines and shapes of a subject and as such what you have done here is no different than that and people actually comment that my POV's are creative or original - as is this one. So for me this is a big thumbs up - I really like the twisted frame it enhances the image to make it more than it otherwise might be. I like the way you have thought this one through.

Dag Paul,
U maakte een mooie serie van het station van Luik, maar Antwerpen ligt tien rangen hoger als trein station, ook ben ik er nog niet geweest in dit nieuw station in Luik.
Uw foto is zeer modern opgezet een beetje diagonaal in het frame.
Zeer mooie samenstelling goede presentatie. Bedankt.
Prettige dag verder,
John.

Hi Paul.
A superb composition, in terms of the realization nightlife, this beautiful and original building, in terms of presentation, the framework I look a complete success, at least this works very well, not exactly like you did, I think which could be with Photoshop, using layers .... not ...?
A splendid work, well-crafted and presented.
Well done. I love it.
Have a good night.
Best regards.
Luis.

A series well applied, Paul, with more inclusive view on the station.
Fine clear outlines, the illuminated area contrast to the black FG and frame.

Bonsoir Paul,
Amicalement

Hello Paul,
The frame would only be a problem if that is the only aspect that people saw ... for me, it draws attention to the photograph and makes it much more memorable because of that. In many ways it complements the photograph because of the sttention to lines: vertical curved, horizontal.
A fine shot, a fine composition, a fine framing!
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Hello Paul,
your idea to use the dark frame is very creative and effective. You have created great contrast with its colour and shape and really managed to show how the station stands out in the night ambiance. Since you have not tilted the picture of the station, the framing is not distracting at all. The view is very rewarding; perfectly sharp and well lit, this place looks lively and fascitaning. The sense of depth is superb too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely week,
Ourania

Hi Paul
Interesting idea about the frame and I think it works really well as an appropriate surreal finishing for this piece of modern architecture. The effect is enhanced by the patterns of the glass panels and the roof as well as the repetition of the L'Oreal advert.
Have a nice weekend
