A 65 km da Bruxelles, sulla cima di una collina si trova la pittoresca città di Mons, capitale della provincia dell'Hainaut.
Il suo centro raccolto e le strade e stradine circostanti offrono un ambiente decisamente suggestivo.
Il pezzo più pregiato della collezione cittadina è senza dubbio la Collegiata di Santa Waudru,costruita dal XV° al XVII° sec.,uno dei più begli edifici gotico-brabantini del Belgio di stile gotico brabantino.
Notevole per l'ampiezza della navata e del coro e per la ricchezza delle decorazioni interne, accoglie al suo interno una delle più belle collezioni di oreficeria religiosa del Belgio e numerose statue dello scultore cinquecentesco Jacques Dubroeucq.
