Car d'or went up Photo

Photographer’s Note

This morning, I saw for the first time the Doudou festival in Mons which take place each year on Trinity Sunday. A big moment of this day is when ar midday, the car d'or (golden car) moved by horses and pushed by the montois (Mons inhabitants) go up along the Sainte Waudru Collegiale.

To bring chance to Mons during one year, the car d'or must go up this street in once.

In WS, I show you the same "car d'or" but with the horses and also 2 spectators well know in Belgium.

Interesting and well done picture. One might prefer a more complex view on this nice and funny rite, but your choice of PoV is understandable. I especially like it because of the detailed view on "Monsois" pushing the historic vehicle, nicely showing their commitment, vigor, enthusiasm and fun.
Your camera managed quite well the wide dynamic range of this scene, which doesn’t fully apply to the WS one. The 2nd WS might be eloquent and valuable for Belgians, so this posting is interesting as a triptych - something which I’m missing in TE, I mean a possibility to post a limited series of pictures which could be presented and perceived as a whole (for Adam to think about).

Interesting photo, Fred, and one more time you succeed by presenting an event on TE in almost real-time. I guess given the crowded street you were facing you did a good job here framing the scene and conveying the cheerful mood of the event. Good add with the two WS photos to round up the documentation of this celebration, well done.

Visiblement l'esprit de fete est bien présente. J'aime beaucoup ta photo avec tous ces gens qui s'unissent pour la même cause.
J'imagine la difficulté pour faire cette photo, tu as du être bousculé de partout ;o) Mais le résultat est bien la

On ressent bien le mouvement avec toute cette foule.

Prachtig document, het moet overweldigend zij om dit spektakel mee te maken en er middenin te staan, mooi hoe je die enthousiaste menigte deze prachtige kar ziet de helling op duwen. Een moment vol leven mooi vastgelegd Fred.
Plezierig om die 2 toeschouwers ook even te laten zien.

Hi Fred, another great festival shot. I like the expressions you caught on everybody. It's funny seeing all of these pushing the car, but they look to be having a blast. Once again the outfits are colorful and well captured. Nice one Fred.

J'espère que tu n'as pas fait seulement que photographier et que tu as poussé un peu pour porter chance à Mons où tu as pris de si belles photos ?
Cette scène, qui montre l'élan généreux et actif de tout un chacun, est très réussie.

Goedemiddag Fred,
Ik heb de W/S even bekeken en deze zijn zeker niet slecht, en wat mij daar opvalt is de agent met de witte helm, deze zie ik in Vlaanderen niet meer! Maar ook deze foto vind ik mooi en een drukkte van jewelste, goede samenstelling. Gelukkig werkt alles terug normaal op uw PC, zijn er veel foto's verdwenen?

On sent bien le mouvement de la foule ici, c'est parfait.
La photo est super nette avec un très bon piqué des couleurs.
J'aurais peut-être essayer de jouer avec l'ouverture histoire de me concentrer uniquement sur le centre, avec un 3.5 mais bon, c'est parfait comme çà aussi.

J'y étais et mon cher, vous avez eu de la chance de trouver une si belle place de choix pour voir la montée! Le long de la collégiale, on ne voyait presque rien. Belle photo! Il faut noter que le car d'or monte aisément la côte avec seulement 2 chevaux, toutefois, on en met six pour augmenter l'exploit et le rendre magistral. Une belle tradition bien fixée sur pellicule!

hehe tu te fais paparazzi maintenant avec les députés...qui ont bien le droit de se détendre un pti moment aussi...celà doit-être quelques chose de pousser ce char d'or...pourvu que celà leur porte donc bonheur...la scene est bien representée...les couleurs sont vives , manque a chouaha de nettété sur les enfants sur ce fameux char...( pourquoi stp )as-tu été bousculé...rire...bien vu ...amicalement BI
