La Louviere, which is located not so far from home town is a town that has been erected in some years in the mid-19th century when Belgium was the second industrial power in the world. Coal mainly , steel and also faienceries made the reputation of the city.
All this is now disappeared and it lonly remains industrial desert like this one. The region now attempts to rehabilitate the place. |

Dear Laurent, this photo is really similar to Belarus, I was really shocked to see such place in the rich Belgium. BW is a good choice to emphasize the tough social situation of this rundown town. AMny thanks for sharing, Jalab

À la fin de mai 2008 j'ira virer en Champagne et peut-être prendrai un jour ou deux pour aller visiter ces endroits désafectés qui font le délce de ma caméra.

Bonjour Laurent,
J'ai suivi de loin ta belle série sur La Louvière et celle-ci me plaît le mieux. Peut-être parce qu'elle réunit le cadre urbain et les gens qui l'habitent. J'ai déjà été à La Louvière (mine de rien, ils y ont de bons musées d'art) et retrouve dans cette photo la désolation qui frappe le visiteur qui y met le pied pour la première fois - désolation judicieusement mise en valeur par le noir & blanc. Je suppose que les habitants ressentent leur ville différemment...
