Hallo John,
Oeps, je maakt het mij niet eenvoudig hier. Normaliter lever je een kwaliteit af waar ik wel iets mee kan, hier moet ik toch wat langer naar kijken. Die boot, tsja, ik lees al dat je naar Oscar typt van waarom maar hij er half opstaat. Excuus, jazeker, maar moet hij dan gepost worden. Linksboven het dak wat wordt afgekapt is ook niet mijn favoriet, maar het perspectief van links naar rechts vind ik wel een sterk punt. Absoluut niet je beste foto, wel met zorg gemaakt en naar beste kunnen gepresenteerd.

I like this framing, John, I think that the 'incomplete' elements in the corners give it a bit of a modern touch and make it more interesting than if everything were conventional and complete. Also the rather low angle across the water in the foreground lends a fine impression of depth. Good details in the rather favorable light.

On a l'impression de se trouver à Venise dans cette image.
Les canaux doivent être très agréables pour la promenade. Une belle construction d'aimeg ici. J'aime bien le bateau dans l'avant plan qui donne tout de suite le ton dans ce décor fluvial.

moeilijke foto. De boot zijn we het over eens denk ik, de gebouwen zijn prachtig. Ik ken de situatie niet goed dus kan ik niet goed oordelen over de compositie. Ik zie alleen wat er op de foto staat, maar weet niet welke opstakels er nog meer zijn. Gent is een mooie stad dat laat U zeker zien hier. prettige dag verder.

De boot breekt het mooi in de voorgrond.
U zat zelf hier ook op het water of is deze plaat geschoten vanaf de kade aan de overkant? Het resultaat mag er in ieder geval wezen.

Dag John. Ja, idd een beetje jammer van dat bootje; 't is nochtans een mooi element als hij er volledig op staat. Maar het is idd soms niet mogelijk om dit te vermijden. Toch vind ik het een sterke compo met hele mooie kleuren. Jij toont Gent op een heel andere manier dan dat ik het ken. Brugge blijft mijn favoriet, maar als je zo blijft voortdoen met Gent, zal ik toch wel eens tijd moeten maken om Gent wat van dichterbij te gaan bekijken. Groetjes.

Hallo John, met een windows-punthoofd kijk ik naar deze, perfecte kleurbalans goed diep en schepte, mooi perspectief naar rechts verlopend, de boot half als intro en dieptegevoel als bijkomend element zonder de aandacht te willen trekken van het gebouw, je eigenlijk target, de top hoek een beetje verwarrend, non-challant een beetje anti het lege steriele plastic, als historisch document zeer geslaagd, niet dat het mijn ding is :).

Hello John.
I enjoyed your notes and the photo, as I am quite familiar with Gent. I like that city very much, and might be able to return for a brief visit in the next month or two. I can remember this place in the photo. The shot is nicely composed and renders the colours beautifully. It's a pity the boat is cut off a bit by the edge of the photo, as it is in a great position in the frame. Also, perhaps your copyright sign could be better in the bottom left corner this time.

Ik vind dit zondermeer prachtig! De diagonaal en de kleuren zijn een lust voor het oog.
Je hebt er het beste uit weten te halen, meer dan dat kun je niet doen. Ik heb je uitleg gelezen en ik begrijp het volkomen. Soms heb je gewoon geen keus, of je moet zeggen : okee, dan maar geen shot. Jij bent de fotograaf, jij bepaalt het.

the place looks nice, the weather is perfect and yet I'm not completely convinced with this post. The light is to intense and the lack shadows makes the impression of harsh light with almost no contrasts. The crop of the boat and the roof at the left upper corner bothers me a little bit.

Goedenavond John,
Weer een uitstekende foto uit Gent genomen vanuit een goede hoek. De gevels zien er prachtig uit en worden mooi belicht. De boot is een leuk detail in de hoek, alleen jammer dat hij er niet helemaal op staat, maar je kunt niet alles hebben, want anders was er links weer te veel weggevallen, ben ik bang.
