Two weeks ago I was in Bruges for a small stroll through Bruges, came I on this small park with modern art as subject.
In background the nice facade is of it museum "Arentshouse "
Arentshuis is a museum in Bruges. Together with the Groeningemuseum are here Fine Arts from the 15th to the 21st century housed. The museum is located at Dijver.
On the top floor of the 18th-century building is the work of the Bruges-British artist Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956) on display. He painted realistic, scenes in which he expressed the industrial life of docks and factories and the hard labor of workers. He also explained many travel impressions colorful oils, watercolors and engravings. He also designed amongst other furniture and carpets.
On the ground floor changing exhibitions of visual arts will take place, in line with the Groening Collection.

I like this photo for its natural colors and light as well as properly planned composition. The square is surrounded by very attractive architecture and the colors of the buildings stay in nice contrast with each other. People present in the image have been placed in nice and not disturbing way. The trees and some greenery help diversify the image and add more interest.
Thanks for sharing

Bonjour, cher ami John,

Again you have given us a very interesting and informative note about this part of Bruges and, in particular, about this art museum. The area is obviously very photogenic as I see another photographer here in your photograph!
A very well composed image with the buildings all elegantly placeed within the frame and with the horse-drawn carriage being a fine addition. The long hedge gives a fine "lead in" to the composition too.
The light is beautifully soft and brings out all the details and textures in the buildings with lovely colours, perfect exposure and exquisite sharpness.
Noel_Byrne (20694) 2014-02-11 0:35
I see other photographers there too, I guess this kind of place will attract many lens'! A nice view of this park, and you have placed it really nicely in it setting here. The park with the artwork looks great, but the building behind does a lot to set the scene. I love the colors in the shot too, from red through browns and greens to the great light blue of the sky.
Thanks as always
krzychu30 (15332) 2014-02-11 1:22
looks like every corner of Bruges has something to offer.
This is really picturesque and lovely scene. And the square has definitely its unque, own charm.I like your perspective and angle to present us this scene.Chosen carefully and with great attention for all details.
Subhogen (4065) 2014-02-11 1:26
Beautiful photo of the park with modern arts. I see it has attracted other photographers as well. The museum with attractive architecture has provided for a nice backdrop for the park. The tourist and the photographers add life to the composition. Excellent composition with natural colours and light. Thanks for sharing.

love the way the art is both accessible inside and outside this fine looking museum building. A beautifully constructed composition that intrigues and is full of wonderful old architectural elements as well as the art. Marvellous!

Hello dear John,
Another perfect capture of this nice corner in Bruges.
Citylords have made here a perfect job to bring the citizens together with artworks in open air.
As usual in your case many interesting notes makes your entry a perfect TE job.

This architecture is a very photogenic subject. A great place for photographers as well.
jacquest (18169) 2014-02-11 3:46
This is a nice architectural scene coupled with some life moments with the horse and blue umbrella and the photographer busy getting this statue on his memory card. The colors are saturated but natural in an image of quality.
Sergiom (54377) 2014-02-11 4:11
Un très beau square. Un trésor pour les photographes surtout avec les très beaux arrière plans offerts par cette superbe ville. Il y a beaucoup d'informations dans cette image et beaucoup de choses à voir pour les amateurs d'art.
pierrefonds (54890) 2014-02-11 4:26
The distance between the park and the buildings is giving depth to the composition. The presence of the people is adding life to the scene. The point of view is showing the détails and colours of the buildings. The good luminosity is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.
cornejo (27937) 2014-02-11 4:41

Splendid that you caught the corner of this so magical city, beautiful buildings in the square and a good gig vital touch and the people next to it, the trees with bare branches provide a good graphics.
Wonderful range of colors in very soft tones.
An image with lighting and sharpness are very well managed.
Well done. I love this image.
Have a good day.
ourania (26280) 2014-02-11 10:01
this is a very interesting place and your presentation of it is great. I like very much how neatly and elegantly you used all the elements in this view to create a well balanced, solid composition. The buildings are very attractive for their architecture and colours, the park in front of the museum must offer fantastic backdrops for the artworks displayed. The bare trees and the moody colours are very charming too. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,

Vele groeten, Paul

The buildings are looking very beautiful. The whole atmosphere you are showing is beautiful.
ikeharel (52181) 2014-02-12 8:53
A view that combine a few subjects in ne picture, John.
The statues park, and the horse with a carriage, people around the garden and the museum edifice on the BG, that has beautiful turrets upon.
All culminate to a marvelous corner in town, you managed to show so well. Most enjoyable looking at.

In Bruges there are many well-known views. For this reason it is very nice with a little unusual picture showing something else than usual scenes. Your POV and composition are excellent. The horse and the cart is well-postioned and for this in focus. Colours, sharpness and details are as always of the highest quality. TFS and have a nice evening!

williewhistler (12381) 2014-02-12 12:57
were it not for the photographer in the square this could have been a picture from many years ago with the coach and horses adding a pleasing touch to a fairy tale scene, the architecture including the pointed towers is delightful.
Best regards Les.
clic (14108) 2014-02-12 14:29
This view on the Art Square is a Piece of Art in itself, given the elaborate ancient architecture showed without any modern artifact and, of course, with rigorous verticals from 'wall to wall'!

always enjoyable to re-visit your gallery and see what new in Belgium :)
I know you mentioned the artwork here, but what interests me the most in this scene is that building on the left.
very elegant black roof, slanted on a very steep angle with tiny windows.
beautiful architecture and angle you took the photo.

Mooi werk, John.

Hi dear John
Wow another fantastic European moody image indeed.
So tasteful and historical high sense park via deep exposure with best match of the main subject, nice shot as usual.
All the best and have a good night! TAKERO

Art is very much subjective, just like photography of course...but I believe anything that can enhance the beauty of a public space is appreciated by all those who come in contact. A beautiful little corner of town here, and worthy of a photo opportunity for sure...in fact, looks like you weren't the only one. :) Despite what appears to be an overcast sky, you've managed lively color to match your standard of image quality with focus and detail. A pleasing look at this square and surrounding space. Enjoy the weekend. Take good care.

The architectural surroundings of this place really are beautiful and your today's contribution shows a a bit unknown part of this magnificent city. I like that it isn't as crwoded as many other parts of Bruges. The photographer colleague is a nice detail here.
John, have a nice weekend! I hope you are fine.

Very nice capture of this nostalgic scene when transportation was simple and did not emit harmful gas or smog. Solid and practical architecture. Good lighting in spite of what looks like a cloudy day and good details. Well done, tfs.

The photographer at centre right adds interest to this shot. Good sharpness and the twin hedges provide good lead in lines and linear perspective, especially the fg one. A pleasant diffused light and natural looking color and saturation with nice sharpness. Tfs!
